I am friends with the rain,
it brings me a loneliness
that feels like home.
Even though there were no words
in my soul,
I was taken away
by the floods.
I saw understanding
in the rain,
as if there was something
that could will me to sleep.
My insomniac needs
are quenched by the steady streams,
and I am in a hazy dream.
A thousand cicadas
sing behind my eyelids,
leaving me
with a sense of community.
I am no longer cold
with the raindrops
on my skin,
the burning sensation
brings familiarity
that is so sweet.
Oh dear winter,
please go away
so I can listen to my raindrops
for another day.
