I saw CantYouC's article from two weeks ago and thought it was both a great idea and a way to revive the Times. If there's one thing we all have in common, it's our use of faceparts to give others a glimpse at our real life personalities. Yet, rarely do we stop and study each other as people. So, at the risk of sounding cliche, I encourage you all to not only be yourselves, but to show us who you are.

Write an article for the Times and tell us about yourself. (Please practice common sense and don't tell us your last name, address, or any definitive identification information.) Those who want to draw their avatars can, and those who don't want to draw can write an article about themselves. Show us the person behind the cartoon: it can be your personality or a fun fact about you.

Me, I used to draw a lot, both on and off Whyville. It started when I was 12, as a way for me to get away from practicing my violin. (I still hate the thing.) But the more I drew, the more I realized I was terrible at it. Part of me thought I should give it a rest, but then the stubbornness kicked in. Eventually, I found some friends here (Mira, Kiya) to commiserate with. Slowly, we got better. Slowly, our people started looking more like people and less like things you'd find on pancakes drawn in syrup.

Today I decided to draw my avatar on something besides Akbar's Face Factory. Here's the original avatar:

And here's what it looks like on Photoshop:

So show us who you are. Let us know what's behind curtain #2 (or rather, avatar #0184). But mostly, have fun. Life is boring enough without your online adventures being another burden.
