Recently, I have started doing some embroidery pieces. I have always been interested in this art form, but never knew how to get started. While browsing Joann fabrics, like one does, I came upon an embroidery kit. I decided to buy it and finally attempt to do something I had been interested in for so long. It turns out that embroidery is actually a lot of fun. There is a lot of room for creativity, and it is easier than I thought it would be. I will warn you that I am obviously a beginner. The two projects in this article are the only two embroidery pieces I have ever attempted. Here they are!

This first project was the kit that I bought at Joann's. It is a 4-inch hoop. I used tracing paper to copy the design that came with the kit onto the fabric. From there I just followed the directions for the stitching. I loved this small beginner's hoop. It was so easy to make and it only took an hour or two.

This hoop is the second piece of embroidery I made. I did this pattern freehand (without tracing anything before hand). I used a 5-inch hoop this time. I made this hoop as a gift for my grandma. I was excited to make this hoop because I challenged myself to try different stitches along with different colors of embroidery floss. This project took me longer because I did it freehand and because the hoop was bigger. I did this one over a period of days.

Overall, I am so glad I took a chance and tried embroidery. It is such a fun activity to do. It is obvious that I am new to this type of art, but I'm excited to get better. I would recommend embroidery to anyone. I usually watch Netflix while embroidering, so it doesn't get boring. Embroidery is a fun and cheap way to make decorations or gifts. If you are nervous about trying something new, you should get out there and attempt embroidery. It is simple and there are some amazing resources online. Thanks for reading!
