Whyville has a new game! It's called the Snack Shack. Have you checked it out yet? I love eating. And I really enjoy snacking. It can be really hard to find healthy, affordable, convenient snacks sometimes. I actually eat pretty healthy, and do go for fresh fruit or veggies a lot of the times. But, like most people, sometimes I really want something salty, or sweet, or just plain bad for me. Every choice we make affects our overall health. And while it is okay to treat yourself in moderation, it is always a good idea to know what you are putting in your body.

Enter, the Snack Shack! This game is all about learning to read nutrition labels. The game is sponsored by the FDA or Food and Drug Administration. Here is the outside of the Snack Shack. I love all the fun snacks decorating the outside, and I kind of want to go down that milk slide!

Once you are inside, you are greeted by lovely woman just chilling on a bright pink coach. I want her job! There are two different games to play. You should start by learning more about the nutrition labels we see every day. Then you can play Label Lingo!

Label Lingo is all about learning how to read the nutrition label. This box on all of our food gives you information about serving size, calories, and nutrients. Using this information, you can make informed healthy choices! Once you have looked at all the different parts of the label, click on the Play Game button!

Label Lingo will ask you to compare 3 different labels to find different information. For example, pick the label that has the most calories per box (not just serving). Or, find the label that has the most sugars. The more you start looking at labels and understand exactly what you are eating, the healthier you will be! When you complete the game you will raise your salary, and then you can go play Snack Sort!

Snack Sort is a way to test your knowledge! You need to figure out the question presented. This could be sort the items in order of carbohydrates. Or pick the items with the least amount of fat. It requires you to really think about the options in front of you! These are timed and there are a total of 44 rounds. You get 5 clams for completing each round!

So if you're like me and really like food, check this one out! You may get a little hungry while playing, so come prepared with some fresh veggies or fruit to snack on!
