I Hate to Complain, But...

I hate to complain, but... what is up with Whyville lately? I mean, when I read Shelly1's article about squatting in Whyville, I figured City Hall would listen (and to my previous letters to them!), but I had no idea how far it was going to go!

Just today I was chatting in Illusions Talk, and I got sent to the top gates! I wasn't even SQUATTING! I was chatting! I mean, I hadn't even been on for 10 lousy minutes, and then I got sent away, and now I can't get back in.

So why is Whyville having all these "technical difficulties"? is it just plain accident, or is City Management not doing their job? I really need to know; I've already sent two complaints today to city management about this problem, and I've gotten no response. I would really like to understand why all these changes in Whyville are being made, but not being watched after. Like, have you noticed that if you get muted, you can't read your transgressions?

Wait, let me explain -- I don't want you to think I'm some type of potty-mouthed crook.

I had no clue about the 911 reports on y-mail, and when I saw them I was like "oh no" and what do you know, not 5 min after I logged on the first day with 911 reports I got muted! I got muted for telling people about my makeover deal, and how I have to have their passwords and stuff like that. I do want you all that are reading this to know that I am NOT a scammer, I do actually give makeovers to people when they give me their passwords, but City Hall will still fine you whether you're a cheat or not. That's besides the point, though.

My whole point in this article is to ask some questions to everyone. Why isn't City Management keeping track of all the technical problems in Whyville? Why are these little things happening? And why does it seem that City-Management is not only neglecting Whyville, but neglecting us youth that make Whyville alive? I just hope that the Times Editor publishes this article so that Whyvillians like myself can find the answers.

Note from City Management: I'm sorry you're experiencing glitches with Whyville, smileNOW. I promise you, we're working tirelessly (well, okay, we *do* get tired sometimes) to fix them all. Just imagine what would happen if we *weren't* working so hard! Believe me, it could be worse. ;-) Fortunately, it's not, and just as fortunately, the changes going on in Whyville right now are really going to help in the future. So, please pardon our dust...

Before these changes, we were limited in the number of servers Whyville would be able to work on. It's complicated to explain, but basically, one or two more servers and that would be it. Now, our head programmer is changing just about *every* program in Whyville, from the ones that generate chat to projectiles to face parts, not to mention all the science games. These changes will make Whyville a little bit faster for you, and a lot easier to expand for us, in the future.

Hope that helps you understand a little better,
City Management
