Attack of the Hackers

Hey Whyville citizens. I am here to address a REAL problem is our community! HACKERS! When I read all those letters from City Hall, I thought, "Well, I gotta be careful!" And I am! Listen to THIS!

Here's how my offer works. You give me ur pword and I'll go on ur account and get you over 250 clams, then I'll give you a makeover. Then When I'm finished you'll have at least 100 clams to use for whatever you want! I know it's very hard to believe me, but two ppl have already accepted and used my offer. Their names are [removed] and [removed] so if you don't believe me ask them! Now if you don't want to do this, then I'll just send you 25 clams now to help you out!

Da Da DUM! This user is obviously DANGEROUS! She/he is a hacker and has hacked 2 other accounts! (And to those people, if you're reading this on a new account, I'm really sorry, y-mail me if you wanna talk!)

This user should use her/his knowledge for something other then hacking! Listen to this" this website I used to go to (I won't say the name) was hacked! Everything in ruins! Nasty posts, messed up email, everything destroyed! Read this letter that the president of the site wrote to all members of the site. He explains my thoughts so much better then I could:

Hello. First and foremost, I would like to extend my apologies for the problems we've recently had with the email service, and even with the website. The problems were due to a series of rather severe hacking incidents on our servers. The servers have been rebuilt and new security measures have been implemented, and we will further bolster our security in the coming weeks (which may cause very temporary disruptions of service, generally no longer than an hour or two late at night).

Frankly, I don't get it. It is said that the difference between a genius and a madman is that a genius uses his madness for creation, while a madman uses his genius for destruction. Hackers are usually extraordinarily gifted individuals, and I've known several personally who use their considerable skills and talents for building things. But I just don't understand those who use their capabilities for destruction. Anyone can tear something down, there is nothing on earth which in not vulnerable in some way. It takes far more effort to build something to create. So why would a talented person choose to wreck mischief rather than take on a project and create something valuable? I don't know. It's sad. Those who contributed to the development of Linux, of the Internet, and of countless innovations in security and software, can have immense pride in knowing that they have a legacy. Those who deface websites, corrupt databases, erase mail servers, and interfere with DNS operations have what to be proud of many years from now that they can share with their kids and families?

Thanks for bearing with us through these difficult and challenging events. We will continue to do our best to provide you with a great service.

As always, if you have any suggestions or ideas we would love to hear them!

    Best Wishes Always,

    Scott Purcell
    President

See, now doesn't that make you think? He makes such a good point, a genius uses his madness for creation instead of the madman using his genius for destruction.

It's like that movie, 'SpiderMan' . Peter Parker decides to be a superhero and fight the Green Goblin (that dude gave me nightmares, The whole evil lady thing in a burning building and his mask! I was screamin!) instead of joining him!

Remember, you are who you chose to be, so who are you?
