This Old Whyvillian Doesn't Like the Changes

LilFlower
Guest Writer

Well, I see that Whyville has absolutely changed its ways. I have been a member since November, 2000, and I can't even get into Whyville anymore. I just sit all alone and read the Whyville Times while trying to get into Whyville, and I never get in.

Even when there were less than 200 Whyvillians, it seems more people were allowed to go into Whyville then now. No offence, but I seriously don't like the changes of Whyville. A few changes here and there are okay, but when you completely change everything, make kids pay money to get onto a site, that is going a little overboard.

I was looking at archived articles in the Times, and I saw one of mine. I clicked on it and discovered you had completely wiped my face, so it looks like I am a plain newbie! I have in fact been in Whyville for 2 years now, and then you go and change it. That is not fair to us! I had spent well over at least 500 Clams to get my Whyville face to look good, and you think that since I don't get on enough you should wipe it away. Not fair.

I haven't been on Whyville for about half a year now, because of the Why-Passes. Why can't some people just use clams to get a Why-Pass instead of money? I don't even know if I have any more clams left because I can't get into the site to find out! Who knows, maybe some one has found out my pass and has gotten onto my name!?

I asked 3 people last year if they thought Whyville was going to change like it has, they said no way, Whyville wouldn't do that! They were wrong, and I feel sorry for the oldies who want to get onto the site but can't because of why-passes. I don't feel as sorry for newbies, because they haven't been a part of Whyville for 2 years and then practically get kicked off! I don't think it is one bit fair!

I don't know if you are going to put this in your paper or not, but I would really like this to be forwarded to the Whyville Management, to let them know that they have at least one person who doesn't like changes! Why can't you just change it back! PLEASE!

An old Whyvillian who doesn't like the changes in Whyville,
LilFlower...

P.S. My Whyville face looks like I am a 2 day-old newbie, but I am a 2 YEAR-old member.

Note from City Hall: Hi LilFlower,

I'm sorry you are disappointed in us! The truth is that we just couldn't afford to keep Whyville open any more the way it was before. We used our own money to pay for the computers, the office, the phone lines, the insurance. We tried to get sponsors, but we weren't able to. Finally, about March of last year, the money started running out.

If you remember, we tried Club Why, but that didn't bring in very much money.

Back then, we weren't even able to pay most of our workers. Some of us went for more than 7 months with no pay. Finally, it came down to either just closing down Whyville or asking citizens to help pay for the site. We wanted to at least give citizens a chance to help us before we gave up altogether.

That's why we started Why-Passes.

I hope you can understand.

Your face is still there. It isn't wiped out. All it takes is for you to go to Pick-Your-Nose and save your face, and everything will be back where it was again. I just went and did it for you.
