Enduring the Heatwave

Amanda and TIKE
Times Writers

Lounging around Whyville, Times Writers TIKE and Amanda become pretty curious. Not to mention the sweat is tricking down their animated bodies. They have heard some news about the new Whyville Beach. The thought of soaking up the sun and laying on crisp sand gives them goosebumps. Have you heard the news? Listen in on their conversation to learn more about this new and improved hang-out and chat room.

TIKE: Boy, it sure is getting hot. I wish there were some place where we could cool down.

Amanda: I was thinking the same thing. But you know, Whyville is introducing a new beach.

TIKE: I heard about that too! When is it going to happen, do you know?

Amanda: Well, I hear it depends on the citizens of Whyville.

TIKE: So we have something to do with the new Whyville beach?

Amanda: Exactly, TIKE. It depends on how many people decide to buy a Why-Pass.

TIKE: Oh, now I understand. So, more people purchasing Why-Passes means that more money can go towards our new hangout? That makes sense.

Amanda: Ha-ha, you aren't too swift today, are you? But that's right. I like to think of it as a type of fundraiser. You help raise the cash, you get something in return.

TIKE: All of this talk is getting me extremely excited. When are we getting this new beach? Anytime in the near future?

Amanda: I myself think so. I have been tracking down Intrepid Slim's progress and he is getting so close!

TIKE: Wait right there, Amanda. Who is this Intrepid Slim?

Amanda: Why, he is Whyville's very own investigator/explorer who is trying to locate the beach. So far he has been very successful, thanks to us, the citizens of Whyville.

TIKE: Locate the beach? Where is it?

Amanda: Well, no one knows, not even the City Management workers. That is why they hired Slim to help us find it. It is most likely off of Whyville's coast. I have even heard that it is hidden deep within Whyville's Forest. That is why Slim must clear a pathway through it.

TIKE: All in all, it sounds like a big deal. I have heard so much talk about it around Whyville. Perhaps we will hear more from Slim in the future, who knows? But I have to thank you. I wonder what I would do without you, Amanda.

Amanda: Oh, TIKE. I wonder about that sometimes as well.

*TIKE and Amanda continue their conversation.
