Healthy Living

Times Writer

Here I am sitting in one really antique house, sitting at the most expensive (and therefore one of the best) computers on the market. Funny how these things work, isn't it?

Anyway, I was reading the Times (like I always do) and there has been a lot of different articles discussing food lately. There has been a big "debate" about vegetarianism. There has been some discussion about whether the food we eat is healthy, with ingredients such as "bacterial culture". There have been numerous articles on food, especially with the introduction of the new "Health Section". You get the idea, right?

Truth be told, we're all wrong and at the same time we're all slightly correct. Every person is different, and everyone needs different things to survive. People who need more protein (like people with O blood-types) can't be vegetarian. People who are allergic to staple foods (diary, wheat) will often find it extremely difficult to be vegetarian.

Just because we "need" meat to live doesn't give us the right to abuse animals before we kill them. That, you must realize, is not an eating habit. Is it? Are we really that cruel? And quite honestly, we don't need milk. Humans are the only species on the earth that have become dependent on another species' milk. Doesn't that say something?

Organic foods are healthier because they aren't drowned in pesticides. (Not only deadly to insects, but in the long run, they're also deadly to the human race. Has an "always healthy" pesticide ever been made??) Canned foods are healthier. They don't lose vitamins and minerals in their shipping. Eating a variety of foods, cooked in different ways, is healthy. And if you can't be vegetarian (or don't want to be) but still want to help the animals, try buying free-range animals.

Everyone's diet is different, and the reason should be that it is healthy for YOU not for someone else. Remember that.

This is Giggler01, wondering, "Why be pessimistic? It just wouldn't work!" ;o)
