No, that's not true, I'm just naturally a strange child. But I do have a good, informative article today. I'd just like to clue some citizens in about singing music on Whyville.
As a Why-mail helper, I get a lot of question regarding 911 reports and why citizens have been taped, or at least why they shouldn't be taped. Today I received an interesting plea that I wanted to comment on.
A citizen wrote me saying that he/she shouldn't be taped because they said something referring to drugs and it was "only a song". They said that they shouldn't be taped simply for singing. Well, I had to tell them what was acceptable for a singer on Whyville, and as I did, I realized that many people could have the same confusion, so I decided to send in an article on the subject.
I've seen many people singing along to song on Whyville in my day. But the same rules apply for songs as any another speech on Whyville. What does that mean?
It means that you shouldn't sing songs with swears in them. Leave a blank space if you really must. But even then, it's pretty iffy. It also means, don't sing songs referring to drugs. Who needs to hear about it? It means that you shouldn't sing songs that put women (or men, for that matter) down, or treats them as animals. In most of today's world, women are equal to men. And don't sing songs with sexual references. I don't want to hear these kind of things, and I don't know many people who think it's that cool. Especially not in a place where we have some really young kids. Think about it.
If you don't know any songs that exclude these things, then maybe you should find some new tunes. Or maybe you just shouldn't sing on Whyville. Can't you find something to talk about instead?
