WSP and Bad Words

Hello everyone, this is chixlova again and I want to follow up on my article from the 150th Issue about stricter walls on Whyville so you can't say certain words. Last time, I talked about how I always see bad words and how we need more people on the W.S.P. (Whyville Safety Patrol) Squad. The next week, the Times Editor asked, "Should the word "dick" be on the list of words you can't say again -- because it used to be on the list, but citizens complained that it was some people's name in real life, so they took it off the list." The only thing is, it isn't usually a person's name; generally it's only a nickname for the name Richard or something like that.

Today I will talk to a few citizens about these things. I asked them all two questions. Here are what these 4 folks had to say. The two questions are:

Q1: What do you think about Whyville's language policies? Do you think the word "dick" should be a word you can't say?

Q2: Do you think the W.S.P. is doing a good job at what they are supposed to do, or do you think there should be more people on the squad?

This is what koed said:

A1: I do think it should be on the list because because too many people use it in a bad way.
A2: I think they have enough people but they need to do their job and start filing reports!! Because I've seen lots of people say bad stuff but not get taped.
Me: Thank you for letting me interview you.
KOed: No problem.

Now here is what Sugapuff7 had to say:

A1: Hmm... I don't like trick questions!! LoL! Well, I think that you should, because some people DO have that name!
Me: But it's not usually a real name, it's usually a nickname so now what do you think?
Sugapuff7: True, so actually, I think it should be on the list again.
A2: Ok, well, since I'm part of the W.S.P., I think we're doing pretty well!!! All I see that I think will make sponsors decide to not sponsor Whyville, I report!
Me: Thank you for letting me interview you
Sugapuff7: You're very welcome

Here is what FunkyL said:

A1: Well... I usually don't say it a lot, so it's not really a problem with me if people say it.
A2: Well... I've never seen them do they job yet while I've been on Whyville, and yes I do think they should put more people on the team. =o)

That is all, and as you've seen, about 33% think the word "dick" should be a word you can say and 66% say it should be a word you can't say. And 33% of the people say there should be more people on the W.S.P. and 33% said they are doing fine and 33% say they have enough people just the need to do their jobs. That is all. I would like to say, I hope City Hall changes this.

That is all. This is chixlova, signing off.
