Cleaned Up Cobwebs

Hi, this is Gone142. I am writing an article about the highly debated subject of swearing in Whyville. There has been a lot of buzz in the Times about this subject, and how swearing can be an not so hard obstacle to get around and how it can be confusing.

What I mean is, a lot of citizens are swearing using different letters or shapes or any other keyboard symbols to replace for a letter that spells a word that you cannot otherwise say. I think the chat filter is incredibly good! But they are getting away with something that shouldn't be happening.

So, what can you do? Well, there are options. If the swearing is really bad and offensive, then you can silence them. And if it gets really, really bad before that, then reporting comes into effect. Personally, I don't think that you should report someone for swearing, but sometimes cases can get really out of hand and there is nothing else to do. Try to keep the town safe. =)

Sometimes, you may say words that you may not think are bad or that are bad that you can say. For example: "ashley", you are not allowed to say that! Take "dick" for another example, you might not think you're allowed to say that, but right now you can because it's a name. Editor's Note: You used to not be able to, and I understand City Hall is reconsidering it, because a few too many people have such poor command of their language.

Also, you might come into a problem in writing a y-mail. I did once. I was writing a normal y-mail (not bad), and it came up, saying "you have said something bad in your y-mail, try to write the words in real English to get around the filter". It went something like that. I was writing in like fast, cyber-words, you know, like instead of "don't" you can say "dun". So, I fixed them all up in all real English, and I could send.

Things can get confusing at times, so just listen to the computer! Muwahahaha!

I hope these clears up some cobwebs. I really didn't understand hardly anything about the filter when I joined, but you'll catch on. Bye bye for now =)
