Hey y'all, pinkbubbl here with some random science facts for ya! I know most people don't think they wanna read about aluminum or carbon, but, seriously, it's kinda cool to see what these elements are used in in real life. So read on and enjoy!

Element -- a substance that cannot be decomposed or broken down by ordinary means to any simpler substances.

Substance -- any sample of matter that is homogeneous and has a unique set of properties.

Element Real life uses of this element. Aluminum structural metal, kitchenware
Carbon fuels, pencils, electrodes, steel manufacture, plastics
Chlorine bleaches, water purification
Chromium forming protective covering on other metals, stainless steel
Copper electrical wire
Iodine aniseptics such as a tincture of iodine and iodofirm
Iron manufacture of steel, magnets
Mercury barometers, thermometers, silent light switches
Nickel gorming protective coverings on other metals, coins
Nitrogen fertilizers, explosives, dyes, drugs
Oxygen breathing apparatus, welding, engines of space vehicles
Silicon computer chips
Sulfur manufacture of sulfuric acid, vulcanized rubber, matches
Uranium producing atomic energy

Scientists have discovered 88 elements that occur naturally. Twenty-one additional elements have been artificially produced.

One hundred and nine (109) elements are known of at this point.

Eight elements make up about 98.6% of the earth.
