Ever wanted to come to Canada? Yes, I know many of you already live in Canada, but many others don't. Also, I think this will make a very interesting article. And plus, there are people in other countries that would die for the freedom that we Canadians have! Maybe they are thinking about immigrating to Canada.

And what is immigration, you may ask? It's when you travel to another country, live there, and then later on become one of the country's citizens. But you would really have to put a lot of thought into this immigrating thing.

To become a Canadian, you:

-must live in Canada for three years or more
-be 18 years of age or older
-speak in either English or French (the two official languages of Canada)
-have knowledge about Canada

But you cannot become a Canadian if:

-you were in prison, on parole, or probation in the last four years
-you are now charged with a crime
-your Canadian citizenship has been taken away in the last five years

If you are sure that you want to immigrate to Canada and become a citizen, there are a few more steps you must take until you are an official citizen. After you have the "Application for Citizenship", you have to follow these steps:

1. Make sure you have the right form (there are so many forms that you might have gotten the wrong one by mistake).
2. Read over the "Application for Citizenship" before you fill it out.
3. Fill in the application form and attach the appropriate documents.
4. Mail in the form.
5. Read over the rules and "get ready".
6. Take The Oath of Citizenship.

I hope you have learned and now understand how to become a citizen of Canada. Every country has a different way for people to become citizens. If you want to become a citizen of the United States for example, I think you'd have to do different things. Other countries don't run their governments the same way as Canada does.

Still waiting,
