I'm a newbie/oldie. I signed up at Whyville quite a long time ago, and today I decided to come back and see what has changed. As I did, I noticed one thing that hasn't been put on the discussion table. One thing that hasn't been said. No credit is given to one particular oldie who left Whyville and never came back.

Etrnl *. Any of you full-blooded oldies are sure to recognize this name. Newbies should learn it well. Without her, what would Whyville be today? You see, the root idea of so many of these new places were started by the one and only Etrnl *.

Ever remember that article "Improvement, IMPROVEMENT" written March 23, 2000? Didn't it mention something about MAKING OUR OWN FACE PARTS? And what do we do today? We go and make new face parts all the time. We never thing about the girl who went around, collected data, and expressed the opinions of herself and the public. We just take it for granted that we can do this.

Here's another article that you're sure to remember: "What Whyvillians Want!" (Oct 5th, 2000). Etrnl * herself even made pictures to go with it, depicting what she thought the future of Whyville might look like, or how she wanted to see it.

Her first suggestion? A MALL! Well, who woulda' guessed it? Don't we have a mall today? Didn't Etrnl * herself bring that up? She even made two pictures to go with it: a picture outside of the mall and a picture inside of the mall where YOU HAVE YOUR OWN STORE... hmm, sound familiar?

And how 'bout that beach... hmm, didn't she make a picture to go along with THAT one too? The beach picture that she created, though, wasn't a real picture of a beach, but a more Whyvillian-ized picture.

Now, look to the left side of your screen in Whyville. You may not think much of it, but as I write this, it looks kinda snowy. The WEATHER sign on the bus says "thawing". Our very own Etrnl * suggested that idea, along with having a day and night, though I don't think that's come out... yet.

Etrnl * was very educational as well. Remember her "The Last Frontier" series? It was all about the planets of our solar system. I happened to find those very interesting. And she was creative! Remember the "Eclipse of Doom", her wonderful article over an eclipse that attacked Whyville? Very very creative, indeed.

Poetic. "A Friend is the Best Gift" brings a tear to my eye. It was written for Spazchick... I wonder if she remembers Etrnl *, or if Etrnl * has faded from her memory as it seems to have for everyone else in this city.

Hmm, didn't Etrnl * create body parts too? Beauty Girl Co. was the name, I do believe. And how 'bout some of that furniture that you put into your homes? Etrnl * yet again -- Etrnl * Furniture! Etrnl * made quite a few great contributions to Whyville. Yes, I agree that it takes City Hall and the great staff of Whyville to carry out these projects, but why doesn't Etrnl * ever get credit?

Because she's no longer around.

Etrnl * found that, one day, she couldn't log on. Some EVIL EVIL person found a way into her account and took everything that she had. They dressed up her face perversely and when Etrnl * could finally log back in and stop that evil person from doing what they did, they left her with hardly any body parts and they took ALL of her clams.

And everyone refused to help Etrnl *. So she left, never to be seen again.

Whether Etrnl * was at fault for this incident or not (though I very much doubt she was), do you think it's right that one of our most active citizens -- one that contributed most of her spare time to helping Whyville on its way -- forced herself to say good-bye to Whyville forever? NO! It's not right! And now we go around Whyville with our Face Factory, our Beach, our Mall... we never stop and think for a moment, "Who came up with these ideas?"

Someone should find Etrnl * and thank her. But do we have any way of knowing where she is? Do we have any way of knowing where to find her?

I do believe the three usernames she went by the most were Serenity, Hoshiko and Amaterasu, but the internet is such a wide web that I doubt using just that we could find her. Maybe there was an e-mail or two that she used. Maybe City Hall could trace it back and try it. I mean, it's worth a shot, right?

I'm not saying that Etrnl * is the best Whyvillian. I'm also not putting down any persons in Whyville, and especially not our City Hall, whom we all love dearly. I just think credit should be given where credit is due.

I'm keeping this anonymous in case anyone finds it right to flame me over this. Who knows? I don't see why anyone might, but I just don't want to be flamed. You may think that I'm Etrnl * back for revenge...! No way. There's no way I could design all of what she did! There's no way that I'm as creative as she was! I'm not her. And I don't want clams for this. I don't want credit for this article. I don't want flames. I just want justice.

Thanks.
