Do you ever get annoyed with hearing this: "if ur single and hot and wanna go out press 321"? I sure do. From what I've seen, 75% of you date online. But I am one of those that think it is nonsense.

Ok, let's head to reality (although Whyville isn't reality, it has to do with it). I am walking down the street and I see this really hot guy. I go up to him and ask him if he's single and his "asl". He stares at me with a puzzled look and then he walks away shaking his head. That's just like dating online. You go up to a complete stranger and ask them out?! Then he/she says yes or no, depending just on your looks or how desperate they are.

Have you ever thought that these people you're hitting on on the internet could be an 80 year old man or woman that is trying to be like a teen and go out with people? They could be lying about their real age. To think that if you actually met this person and they were 80! That wouldn't be a pretty sight and YOU were going out! =/

I think that people who date online (not all of you) are not able to get a boyfriend/girlfriend in real life, so you go on here. And I have to admit, it is easier to ask that kind of stuff online, because you're not really there to experience it and if you get turned down, it isn't that embarrassing, since not everyone knows and not everyone cares. I also think that it is wrong if you have two boyfriends/girlfriends (one on Whyville and one in real life). It's like cheating in a different way.

Dating online is also a way for your so called "boyfriend/girlfriend" to get personal information on you, because you "trust" them. They may end up trying to find you. Which is bad, because they could do many things, from the uncomfortable to the dangerous. For instance, they could just harass you, or they could kidnap or even kill you.

I think I got to my point. But, I asked a couple citizens what they thought of dating online.

lildancr5:
Dating online is stupid. You don't know who the person is. It's like mystery date. You could be dating a 30 year old man/woman. I don't do it because I think it's stupid.

Love2bme:
I think it's stupid because, as you and I say, you could be dating some 80 year old girl instead of a guy.

anonymous:
Dating online may be fun but unnecessary. It can cause friendship and people to become jealous over relationships that don't exist in real life.

So, boys, if you're reading this, do not ask if I want to "go out" or if I'm single.
