Read or I will shoot you... with a paintball gun!

Hello again, Times readers, AgentChad here with an article on one of my favorite sports. Paintball is a growing activity for kids and adults across the globe. I want to teach you all you need to know!

You don't see paintball on TV, but it is rapidly becoming a popular sport. About a year ago, my friend introduced me to the game -- he took me and a few others to a field where I discovered my favorite pastime.

Paintball is usually played on fields with many different areas and terrain.  One of the more popular places to play paintball is in forests. Speedball is played in a smaller area, with walls all over for you to hide behind. I prefer playing in forests, because you have a lot more room to maneuver.

Despite being one of the best sports, it is also quite expensive. Pump-guns are the cheapest "markers", but if you're playing a game in an actual field, it helps to have a semi-automatic. The price range of paintball guns/markers is from $80-$4,000. You can rent guns at fields if you want to, but if you play even just a few times a year, it really is better to buy your own.

So, you've spent a lot of money on the gun, now you have to buy a protective mask -- which can cost up to $200. Once you've got that, you're ready to play (you can buy more protective gear, but it is not mandatory). Now you need to buy paintballs; depending on the quality you get, they can be quite expensive also.

As soon as you've bought everything -- you need a gun, paintballs, and a mask -- you can go to a field. There, you'll usually have to purchase the field's brand of paintballs. This makes the games fair, and keeps people from cheating (some freeze their paintballs, which can be very dangerous!). It also helps the fields afford to stay in business.

I've been playing paintball for a while and I plan to play for many years to come. I hope you find paintball as interesting as I do.

Mmm donut,

AgentChad
