As you all should know by now, the race to become Whyville's first Senator is in full swing! Those of you interested in becoming senator should hurry to the City Hall and post your petitions now, because you'll need to have made it to the polls by next week. That takes 126 votes, give or take a few. :-)

The folks who get into the polls by next Friday will send their revised platforms to the Times, where we'll post you all in a special Politics section. If you want to write in special articles about Whyville's biggest issues -- from understanding science to the future of your face parts to how newbies-oldbies should be treated -- you're welcome to. Not all of these articles can be published, though, so write your best!

In other news, this week's Times is essentially a double issue, giving you folks the time to debate the upcoming election, using the BBS and the petitions.

Also, City Worker Calliope is down with an illness, so she won't be able to come to Saturday's Critique Club. Do you think she might have contracted something from this week's featured reading, The Hot Zone? Read the book and figure it out -- you've got an extra week! :-)

And that's the news,
Times Editor
