So, to get clams you have to play games. Some of them are really hard (to me, anyway) -- for example, I don't understand the Sunspot Puzzle. Some of the games are kind of easy (again, this is my opinion) -- the skater game where you have to see how fast you can make the skater go by moving her arms and legs. That is a really fun game. But one thing I learned is you have to read the instructions for every game you play. I'm one of those people who try to figure things out for myself and trust me, you can't do that with these games!

Back to clams. Every time you play a game, your salary gets higher. Your salary is how many clams you get paid every day you visit Whyville (no, you don't get more if you try to come in and out more than once a day; I've already tried it). You can see how much of a salary you have by clicking on the backpack on top of the bus to your left. Then you click on the 'Ledger'.

Okay, I think that's all I have to say on clams. Now, on to:

How to I get to the games? (I'm basing these subjects on the questions I had when I first started.) I found the Ledger and got to the games from there. But you can get to them from the box that says 'Destination' on it over to your left. They call that the bus menu. You can just click on things like the Spin Lab and the games will be inside there.

Why can't I chat right away? Well, you have to wait five days until you can chat -- yeah, it's kind of annoying having to wait that long (sorry, I have no patience) but it's for our own safety. They want you to get used to Whyville before you go chatting. It's also to encourage people to not bother making multiple accounts. I don't really know anything about chatting, since I have 2 more days to wait. Editor's Note: If you're 13 or younger, you also need to get a parent's official permission in order to get to chat, Y-mail, or use the BBS. That's because the U.S. Government (and Numedeon, the company that runs Whyville) want your parents to take part in your safety on the internet. It's a law that, no matter what website you go to, they're supposed to get written permission from your parents before they let you communicate with other folks.

What else is there to do? Well, there's lots to do. First of all, you can go to the beach or the playground, or the pool party and look at other people. (Sounds fun! You can actually chat with them after your first five days.) I go to those places and take ideas from people on what I'm going to look like when I design myself. Or you could go and play tic-tac-toe (my choice), checkers, or Chinese checkers with anyone on the site, no waiting! You can also go shopping for parts for your face and then put them all together on the 'Pick Your Nose' page. That's for those of you who already have clams and everything and are just reading this article just for the fun of it.

What's a Why-pass? A Why-pass is a pass you buy with real money. It's there in case you come on the site and it's too busy and they can't let you in right away. Well, if you have one of these passes, you get to the head of the line -- it's not 100% guaranteed, but you definitely won't have to wait as long as others. I don't have one, but I guess they're good to have, especially if you think Whyville is a good place. You should consider it.
