A couple weeks ago, the Times announced that we might have to expire our face
parts. Why? Because the face parts put so much strain on the database that
Whyville is built on, if they did not do something (like expire face parts),
the website would not be able to meet our demands. How many of you constantly
complain about having more games, more chat, more everything -- and I know most
of you without Why-passes complain about not being able to get in. So, Whyville
finally does something about it. But you all still complain.
I see all these suggestions in the BBS and the petitions. Not to insult most of
you, but don't you think the programmers of Whyville have thought of ideas
like yours? Some of them they might not have gotten, but I'm assuming very few.
The fact is, with none of us kids having a total knowledge of how the
programming works in Whyville, you really are just spouting off things without
having all the information.
Also, all of you misread what the Times Editor meant when he said that the parts
would be recycled, thanks to Grandma's efforts. You all jumped the gun and
starting ranting and raving without acting like civilized people, thinking
before you act. The Editor did not mean that all your spare parts would go
to Grandma's (wouldn't that cause strain on the database too, all of you
thought-it-all-through-without-complaining people?). The Editor just meant that
the SPACE on the servers would get RECYCLED for good use -- whether it's
face parts or other things for us. Grandma was just helping out the
process. But what did you all do? You jumped. You started whining. Even the
oldbies (some of my friends and some of my not-so friends), who have been on the site so long, didn't even bother really finding out all the information before spouting off.
Gosh, you all are a disappointment. You want them to treat you like adults
but you act like children.
And I don't know if this is the most aggravating part -- but the OLD Whyvillians (you know
what I mean by old, right?) should know better. Where do you, who ARE SUPPOSED TO UNDERSTAND
THINGS BETTER, get off demanding things from Whyville? You know that they are
underfunded and don't have the space. You know that they are having a hard time
meeting things financially. But all of you older people start complaining too?!
The fact is that not enough people have been showing their support of Whyville,
so how can they support us? We have the Why-pass, right? The majority
of us don't have them. The Why-pass isn't always just about
getting into Whyville quicker -- it's about showing our care and support for the
website. Think about it -- we almost have 500,000 people in Whyville. If all of them had a
Why-pass, then the site would have $2.5 million dollars! Or what if only a hundred thousand
people got a Why-Pass? What do you think the site could do
then? We would be able to get everything then! But no, some of you even complain
about how the Why-pass is wrong because this is supposed to be a free site. IT
IS A FREE SITE. But how do you expect them to be able to do everything without
any money!!!! Oh, and all of you with multiple accounts? I didn't hear any of
you people saying that you were going to get rid of all your multiple
accounts so that you could save the face parts -- don't you think THAT puts
strain on the database, too?
$5. From each and every one of is, that's all they would need out of us. $5 is
cheaper than eating a big meal at McDonald's. It's way cheaper than any of the video
or computer games you can get today. It's cheaper than most books you can get at
the library. It's about five candy bars. And it's also way cheaper than the movies.
Actually, if we could just donate (yes, DONATE...do all of you know what
that actually means?) $1 or $2, the site would be better off anyway. Is there any
way that Whyville could accept donations? I already have a Why-pass, but instead
of just sitting and complaining, I want to do more.
The fact is -- I bet Whyville will have to require money out of us
eventually. How else could they survive with all of your complaints?
Anyway, for all of you who really want Whyville to be a better site, put your money where your mouth is. And grow up some.
