I was in the voting booth the other day and was asked by 5 different people to vote for them as senator within 10 minutes. It made me start thinking about honesty, campaigning, and the different ways the candidates are tying to get votes. Are they running honestly? Why do they want to be senator?

At www.dictionary.com, I looked up the meaning for the word honesty. There were several meanings, but the one we need is "The quality or state of being honest, probity; fairness and straight forwardness of conduct, speech, etc." Then I looked up the definition for political campaigning: "A race between candidates for elective office."

I asked a few questions of two of our leading candidates, to find out what they think of honest campaigning and why they want to become senator. Amazing, and Giggler01.

Me: "Why do you think it is important to run an honest campaign?"

Amazing: "Because the Whyvillians rely on me and expect me to be."
Giggler01: "I think how you run your campaign says a lot about how effective you will be as senator. If you put a lot of effort into running and really get your face out there, it shows that you are a hard worker."

Me:
"Why do you want to be chosen as senator?"

Amazing: "Because I know I can be a good representative of the wants of every day Whyvillians."
Giggler01: "I honestly think that Whyville needs a senator who is hard working and will improve Whyville to make it better for all citizens, not just the senator. And if you want something done right, you've got to do it yourself, right?"

The last thing that I would like to address is the issue of bribery. There are a couple of people who have been using bribery to try and get votes. Whyvillians, be careful when you encounter people who use bribery. It is wrong, and everyone knows it.

Campaign manager Sugarz (for Giggler01) says of bribery, "I have seen that around a lot and DO NOT support it. I think that if the senator is caught bribing they should be cut off from the race. No second chances. Why should they? Everyone knows bribery is wrong." She also said, "A true and honest campaign is run by a TRUE senator and Honest voters."

Giggler 01 says, "I saw a couple of people who are offering bribes for votes and I couldn't help but be scared of what will happen to Whyville if they win."

So be careful, and Have fun voting.
Good luck to all of the candidates! I hope you all read up on JayR's platform, as well as Amazing and Giggler01's platforms.
