Updated!

I warn you in advance that this platform is long. But this is for the better, because at least one of these things affects you! And chances are, you'll probably want your say in Whyville. And now??? onto my platform!

When a Political Party is devised, they write a platform. A traditional platform lists the seven subjects that I have included, as well as one of the candidate???s choice. I have chosen to keep the traditional format, because it covers a wide variety of issues, which will affect everyone in Whyville, something that is important. The government has also chosen these as areas that they cover because they meet human needs, something that should also happen in Whyville. Why should you vote for someone who doesn't have your best interests in heart? With that to think about, the following is my proposed platform, which follows many philosophies, but one central idea.

Social Programs

A Debate Club

One of my first and foremost goals in Whyville would be to create more opportunities to get together and talk about views of the world. Similar to the Media Hour and Critique Club, I would push for regular meetings when anyone could get together and talk about anything that bothers them. I would also consider any suggestions for topics that citizens may have.

Hobby Chats

Got a hobby? Can???t find anyone to talk to about it in Whyville? Learning something new and need advice? It's happened to me and I would love to see discussions on the matter! I would organize a chat once a month to talk about certain hobbies. If someone were to put in a request for a certain hobby, it would probably be taken into consideration! And this is a great chance to meet some new people who share your interests!

More Contests

Many of the contests that happen in Whyville become popularity contests. How many of them are based on talent? I would help to set up more contests that promote various talents in Whyville, and would incorporate various rewards and prizes, not only for the winners but also for runner-ups. I would especially like to see more contests that involve art or drawing, like the Twister Fish or Whyville Flag. We don't have enough of those anymore!

Mystery Night

I would love to have a week where there is a mystery in Whyville. Similar to what is known as "Clue" and "Mystery Dinner" I would ask real citizens to play a part in this drama-type event, and ask City Hall to award prizes to citizens who solve the crime. It will require wit, but the true detectives will be up for challenge!

Open to Suggestions

As Senator, my door would always be open to suggestions. My philosophy is that elected officials should only be a reflection on what the citizens want. What you have to say matters to me, no matter how long you've been a member of Whyville.

Job Creation

Deleting Face Parts

As explained by Superid in the July 18th edition of The Whyville Times, Face parts that you buy in the future will be deleted after a certain amount of time. While I do not agree with this, I can live with it. If a decent alternative is proposed, I will certainly consider it, but Whyville cannot function without server space.

Face Part Tutorials

Similar to a couple of Times articles that have been written, I would like to establish an interactive tutorial for designing face parts. I would ask top notch designers for their tips and tricks to help many struggling designers get started, using tutorials to design basic parts that would help them move on to more advanced face parts.

Some people have expressed concern that this would take away ideas from the big name designers! I am not taking about complicated, detailed designs, but something that teachs people how to add details like shadows and depth, as well as how to draw certain things like curves. I would be certain to make sure that it is informative, yet very basic.

Environment

General Upkeep

The general upkeep of Whyville is very important to me. I hate seeing things that are down, such as the BBS in Club Why and in the House of Illusions, as well as re-opening the face factory. I would put pressure to fix these things so that Whyville citizens could enjoy them again.

Expanding Whyville

While campaigning I noticed that everywhere was pretty much jam-packed. Several people expressed the desire for more chat rooms and allowing more people to be in a single chat room at a time. What I would like to see is a room that designed to incorporate lots of different cultures, and encourages meeting people from around the world, a sort of "International room". Other people are also anxious to see a restaurant arrive in Whyville. I would be more then happy to work for a new chat room in Whyville.

Plots

My position on plots is a little different from the other leading candidates. I do not want to abolish them. I used to use mine frequently, and I know others did too. However, they don't work anymore. So I do not want to get rid of them, but rather get them fixed and make more available. Houses are a great place to have a private conversation or group meeting on Whyville, when they work!

In addition to plots, I would also like to begin apartment complexes. I would create a system where, if you can not get your hands on a house, with enough money you could own and manage an apartment building. An investment like this would be costly, but tenants would have to pay rent. Of course, not everyone would be able to make such an investment, and so you could rent an apartment, which had your name and was decorated to your tastes.

Mail Alerts

Does anybody remember when you used to get alerts when you got mail? For those of you who don't remember, the red light on your cell phone used to flash when you got new letters. What happened to that? I???ll find out why this feature was removed and try and find a way to get it back.

Education

A Whyville School

Requests are constantly being made to set up a school in Whyville, but people constantly question what to put in it. I would love to see a school that offers tutors and homework resources. I'm sure that this would be a welcome addition to anyone who has been working on homework late one night and found that they didn???t understand something, with no one to help them.

Also, in a Whyville school, I would hope to have a guidance area. Many teens suffer from personal problems, including abuse, drug addictions and depression. A group of people would be established to help anyone who just needs someone to talk to.

A school would certainly be a long term goal, because a long with all the other things that people face, I'd like to incorporate many other ideas. Looking for information on the effects of some drugs? Why not learn it at The Whyville School? Learning to Program Java? Find advice in a Whyville classroom!

Whyology Survey

Anyone who participated in the previous Whyology Survery will tell you that it was a positive experience, I'm sure! So, why not have another one? Bruab, Scout and Pwee would all be tracked down and asked to conduct another study, so that even more citizens could enjoy this experience!

Crime and Punishment

Senator Advisors

I hope to put together a committee of Whyvillians to help with the process of making descions. I feel this would be important to any Senate, because it's the citizens who know what Whyvillians want! I also know that this will help keep Whyvillians happy when choices are made.

Rewards for Good Behavior

In my original platform, I suggested that rewards be given to those citizens who had good behavior. I am very pleased to say that this month, it is being tested in Whyville. If elected, I will make sure that this continues, as long as no one abuses this system!

Health Care

Getting Newbies Started

I remember how it was to be a newbie. I would like to see more tutorials and clearer instructions put in place. I would like to have this stuff set up in the future Newbie Center, which has never been completed. Now is a better time then ever. Not only will newbies benefit from this, but so will all the Why-mail helpers who continuously answer questions about how to get started on Whyville.

Clam Showers

Any oldie will remember in November of 2001 when there was a weekend full of Clam Showers. This was truly a sight to behold, showing up in the right city every hour and watching the clams fall from the sky. I have always wanted one more, and as Senator I would take the steps involved to see them again.

National Deficit

Why-passes for clams

I will continue to say no when it comes to paying for Why-passes with clams. Many people would like to see this happen, but in order for all of the other changes I plan to happen, Whyville needs servers, something they can only buy with money.

Alternatives for money

As Whyville continues to get more citizens on a daily basis, servers are still needed. One of my resolutions will be to help find more ways to find funds for Whyville. Apart from trying to get sponsors, this will also include finding other products to sell on Whyville, such as kits.

Veterans

Rewards for Whyville Patronage

To help encourage people from creating more then one account, why not offer rewards to people who have been members of Whyville long enough? This is also says thank you to all of the people who have stuck with Whyville through thick and thin, and encourages people to stick around for longer.

More features in Club Why

Many people have asked to lower the price of Club Why. My belief is that being part of Club Why is a privilege that you need to earn. However, as a member of Club Why, I feel that the quality has degraded, and more features are needed. I will of course make new features, based on the suggestions of members! Oh, and I would also like to reinstate option of paying $12 for a 12 month membership in Club Why.

That's my platform. If you read it all, I salute you, and I thank you for your vote! (if you are voting for me, of course) I realize that I am probably not the most popular person in Whyville, or the richest, or the coolest designer. But those are not qualities that a good Senator needs to posses. I have already helped out Whyville, in my time here. I know that some people have said that some of my ideas are unrealistic, but I am a very hard worker and I am not one to give up on my goals. I also want to thank every single person who has helped me with my campaign, whether providing positive or negative input, voting, helping me campaign or helping me write my platform. While I can not name all the people who have helped me, and therefore give them the recognition they deserve, I especially want to thank Babypowdr, for helping me when I knew nothing about Platforms, sugarz, for being supportive and helpful even when I wasn???t sure I needed it and to Amazing, even though she is my competition, she has helped me with my campaign in more ways then one! I thank you for reading my platform and I accept all of your input! And please remember that realistic ideas today will make for a better Whyville tomorrow!
