Hello, Whyville.
I haven't written in a while, but much is brewing right now. Many
people are saying that this Akbar raising his restocking
prices thing is a bad thing. I've been on Whyville and I have my
opinions, and I believe this is a good thing.
You see, these prices for restocking were what the original restock
prices were supposed to have been. When I first became a face part
maker, I was
surprized that all restocking was only 2 clams per part. No matter the
size. This surprized me, because I'd read that the prices to restock
would
be higher.
Now, this is why I think this is a good thing:
- Now that the restock prices are raised, this will be more
realistic.
Which is the point of Whyville, kind of.
- Now, some producers will have to raise their prices. If they
have a
low salary, they will have to win more games in order to raise their
salaries to be able to get their prices up to the maximum. (When you
have items you are selling, the price can't be higher than your salary.)
- The consumers will now have to play and win more games in order
to
raise their salaries to make money (clams) faster.
You see? The point of Whyville is to
gain knowledge by playing these
games and having fun and helping
others. I hope we don't have
answers being sold again, because that's not fullfilling the point of
Whyville -- and anyways, those answers won't get you a very high
salary. We had a problem with this a couple of years ago. I
know that many of you are saying that this still stinks, so I will do
the "versus" side of things.
For some, this is why the raising of the restocking isn't good:
- New shop owners may go bankrupt.
- New creators who won't get their money back if the creation
isn't
well done.
- Older creators get lots of sales, but also have many things to
sell. (ex. shmee, our friend googles, etc.) Restocking all that gets a
bit pricy. Editor's Note: If your prices are higher than your cost,
then you're still making a profit, right? :-)
- It'll be harder for consumers or producers who are new, didn't
get the best stuff from Grandma (because all my donations were snatched
right up), don't
understand the games, and/or may be a bit younger.
And here are ways we can save our clams
so we don't have to worry:
- Only get the necessities. No junk. You may be able to afford it,
but
the producer may not.
- Give to Grandma what you don't use anymore. Or put it on the
Trading Post for a low amount for low-income users to buy.
- Save your money to more than what you are saving now, so you
will have
more than needed. (Just in case!)
- Don't mock others who don't have the newest or nicest things.
They
may not be as blessed as you and are still saving for that special item.
- Be Santa Claus. If you see a newer member to our family of
Whyille
and you don't need this shirt or this hair or eyes, then just send
it to them. Or buy them something new! :)
I hope you all learned something from
this and might look to the
brighter side. Maybe play some more games to raise your salary? Sounds
good!!
