I want to apologize in advance for offending anyone in my article. I do not wish for anyone to feel bad or angry with me. I just think that some of our civilians need to hear this.

I'm not writing any fancy introductions today. It may be the anger at the controversy I've read in that past hour, or the exhaustion from spending hours in the blazing sun painting two decks, two gates, and the fence while listening to my dog whimper, but I'm not in the mood.

As I finally logged onto my computer today, I went through my usual routine. Read e-mails, log onto Whyville, read Y-mails, read Times. Since the new Whyville Times was not up yet, I decided to read the BBS of one of the three new articles, the article announcing Giggler01's triumph in the Whyville senate election. In the BBs there were all sorts of things to be expected; congratulations, acceptance, and anger. There were, however, some things that took me by an unpleasant surprise -- rumors about the senator-elect, people saying that she is a spotlight hog, and generally offensive comments. One person (I'm not naming names, there's no need) says, "I don't think that Giggler01 should have won cuz she is already in so much and does so much, I consider it a spotlight hog!" A few people (including me) responded by pointing out that Giggler01 does things like this because she loves it, not because she wants fame.

One civilian stated that "Nobody wants an educational site." When I saw that I was, like today, extremely angry at all of this idiocy, and this drove me a little closer to the edge. When I responded, I may have offended this person. She later Y-mailed me, telling me that I couldn't judge her because all I knew about her was what I read in her profile, that I was nosy, that I tried to make her look bad, and that I thought I was better than her. That last comment really hurt me -- how could she judge me like that?  Had I really acted as though I felt that way?

I honestly don't know how much longer I can stand any of this. Prejudice and controversy are two of the three things I have sworn to myself I will always fight against. This article is my last attempt to stop the needless fighting over the senate race. These are my last words:

This has gone too far, all of you. You can't judge on how useful, or useless, they will be before you give them a chance to accomplish something. At the risk of sounding cliche, I am ashamed of what someone may think of our town, looking in from the outside. I wouldn't have believe that friendships with and jealousy of the candidates could lead to people saying that Giggler01 is "crap", and that we didn't vote for Amazing because we are all racist.

I will not be reading the BBS to this article, I'm promising you this now. I know I will have inspired more anger in some, but, hopefully, the meaning of this article will have gotten through to more.

Kirbie393, over and out.
Seeya on the flip side.
