Many fretful citizens panicked last week when they found nothing in Akbar's Face Mall. That's right: nothing. There was NOTHING on the shelves!

This caused a national outbreak (okay, not quite) and many citizens asked what was going on. Would you ever see your parts again? Had City Hall forgotten to mention that server space was too low and all parts were about to get deleted? Had boycotting worked and Whyville was suddenly going down the drain? Had some alien force from an alternate Universe eaten a cheese sandwich for lunch, causing a random planet (Earth) to suffer global computer malfunctions, leading to the disappearance of face parts? Or had something more reasonable, and temporary happened?

Well, I'll tell you that since you have probably already noticed that the face farts have made their return, there is obviously an explanation, and a code orange was not necessary. In fact, some of the hate mail I received, as well as some of the complaints that were sent to City Hall, was completely uncalled for. Yes, it's okay to alert the proper authorities that there's a problem, but sending hate mail is never justified, especially when you are hating someone who has nothing to do with the problem. >_<

So what happened? The answer may shock you. I asked City Hall what was up and I was told, "...nothing was deleted at Akbar's. It's just that our server crashed, and so it had to restart. While it was down and while it was restarting, nothing shows up at Akbar's. I've asked our programmer to add a message to Akbar's so that citizens don't get so worried if this happens again.

This is a good opportunity, however, to show citizens why we needed to expire face parts. The server crash was because the number of face parts in our store was just too large. It couldn't handle it well anymore, so it crashed..."

Excuse me while I put on my shocked face: *Gasp!* Since the beginning of the summer, City Hall has been saying that the face parts have been putting a severe strain on the servers and immediate action needed to be taken. City Hall took action by instating the expiration policy at Akbar's. Yet, this was the end of the world for some people. Despite protests, petitions and drastic boycotts, City Hall has remained firm in her position. And I can see why. In fact, it's a wonder to me that this hadn't happened before. Imagine the state Akbar's would be in if face parts weren't expiring!

What needs to be done to stop another face part-related server crash? Well, it appears to me that the expiration of face parts isn't enough when you consider the number of citizens who own mass numbers of parts. Hermionez suggested in a recent article that you buy either a Why-Pass or something from the Whyville Store. These are great suggestions! In fact, I'm currently in the process of begging my mom for money so that I can buy a spiffy new notebook!

Hermionez also suggested that Whyville could get funding if we all helped get sponsors. But hey, that sounds like a lot of work, so I'm gonna make this task easier: In my Senate platform, I promised to help find more funding by getting sponsors, and I've started on that goal. If you would like me to contact a company looking for sponsorship, all you have to do is send me the name of the company and what they do or sell. It's that simple! And just think, you could help prevent a server crash, as well as help get new features added. So far, I've been focusing mainly on clothing companies targeted at teens, as well as food and candy companies and various organizations that promote science. If you know an organization that falls into one of these categories, simply drop me a line.  Even if your ideas don't fit into these categories, but you still think they'd would be worthwhile to contact , then I'd love to here your suggestions!

I guess that's all for now. So, until the next time, play safe, be happy and remember to tie your shoes! And please use your brain before you do something. You have a brain for a reason!
