I am a big fan of strange phenomenon and recently
I came across some information on
the Art Bell website. The thing that interested me was the
phenomenon called solar flares.
Solar flares are caused when the sun's surface has a minor eruption
and big balls and gas lines shoot up from the surface. The site told me
that these "flares" can temporarily cause communications such as radio,
satellite, internet servers, etc to be knocked out.
So, I believe the cause of the Whyville disaster was solar flares!
And it may happen again, but in very spread out intervals, so City Hall
and Whyville citizens, don't be surprised if it does! But it should
only be temporary.
Solar flares have been recorded from class A flares (the least powerful,
probably never disrupting anything) to class P flares that could knock
out all communication systems on the side of the Earth facing the sun!
Scientists also believe these flares are becoming more damaging because
of our ozone depletion... but who knows???
One final thing: Art Bell had a radio show, but he retired and someone
else has taken over. This show talks about aliens, monsters, ghosts,
or anything out of the ordinary!
