He stands in a foreign land,
With a gun in his hand.
He guards his tower,
Knowing that the enemy will be there within the hour.
When the enemy reaches the base,
A worried look comes over the soldier's face.
He fires his gun,
Realizing that the battle has begun.
The bullets start to fly,
And many men begin to die.
Then the soldier feels a sharp pain in his chest,
As a bullet flies right through his vest.
He falls to one knee,
Right at the time the enemies flee.
He stares up into the sky,
Knowing that he is going to die.
He calls to his family one last prayer,
As his soul floats through the air.
At the break of dawn,
The soldier's life is gone.
He was far from home, but brave as can be,
He was the soldier that fought for you and me.
