Are Petitions Getting Out of Hand?

I personally think the idea of petitions is one that will greatly benefit Whyvillians by letting their voices be heard, but when I look over the petitions, many are stupid and very often are the same ideas repeated. I have seen at least 5 petitions for a mall. Not that I don't think that is a good idea, I do, but after the first petition I get the picture.

I also think people are not thinking of the long term effect of their petition. One petition would have it so the designers of whyville would sell much less clothing, but this would cause them to stop designing altogether. Do we really want this? Also some petitions have pointed fingers at certain Whyvillians, which is definitely uncalled for.

I asked some citizens of whyville what they thought about petitions.

Q: Have you ever voted on a petition or wrote a petition?
A: Yeah!
Q: Does the fact that many petitions repeat themselves bother you?
A: Well not really, but it depends on how good the petition is.
Q: What was the petition you wrote about?
A: A higher salary.

Q: Have you ever written a petition and if so what was it about?
A: My petition was about how they should play music whenever you go on Whyville.
Q: This is a very original petition. Do the petitions that repeat themselves bother you and if so why?
A: I think that the petitions that bother me are always about the same things -- claming or salaries, and instead of everyone voting for one petition they vote for all of them.

So you see, different citizens have different views on the petitions. I think since everybody can only make one petition they should make it an important one. So instead of making a new petition about an old subject, vote for that petition, and hopefully soon you will see it in the polls, and then it can happen. See you at the polling booth!!!!

Well, that's it!!!!

Thanks a bunch!!!!
