Guess what, everybody? Whyville's fifth birthday is this month!

Yup, the month of March always bring a special glow to our bustling town. Five years old is getting to be quite an age, when you compare it to many other sites on the web. We're proud to be here, growing and learning with all of our loyal citizens. From those of you who joined us on this wild and wonderful trip back in 1999, to those of you who are still finding out what it means to do things 'the Whyville Way', thank you for coming!

City Hall tells me that the traditional Veteran Medals will be awarded during Whyville's Birthday Month -- as usual, bronze medals go to folks who have been citizens for one year; silver medals for two years; and gold medals for three years. She's even considering a platinum medal for those venerated citizens of five or more years! Anybody out there?

To get a medal, make sure you fit into those categories, and login to Whyville at least once during the month of March. It should then appear in your satchel. That's all!

As Firecat reports in one of our lead articles, superid held a Town Hall Meeting on March 3rd, 2004, in Norfolk, Virginia at Old Dominion University. Check out her article to get a glimpse of what happened! If you want a City Worker to visit your town, have someone from your school, high school, or university go to http://www.numedeon.com and contact us officially. A visit -- plus a chance at free goodies like Why-Passes -- could be right around the corner!

In other good news, the Whyville Times has its first Times Crossword puzzle in this week's paper. To solve it, you need to have read the paper thoroughly, because the answers all relate to something in the Times! The first few citizens who solve the puzzle will earn clams. Are you up to the challenge?

Now, I feel I should apologize to our still-to-be inaugurated Senator, OrEoBaBy, and to all other Whyvillians. It was my responsibility to organize her inauguration, but what with the flooding of my office, I'm afraid I made that task less important than I should have. I'm sorry, folks!

City Worker scyllaCat has offered to take up the slack for me -- thanks, scyllaCat! -- and will be talking with OrEoBaBy about the best time for her official inauguration as Whyville Senator. Look for more about this in the Times and the login page!

Finally, all the articles that didn't get published in last week's paper are here this week. I figured it would be better to the authors, allowing all our readers a chance to see their works for a full week, instead of a couple days. :)

Wow! So much to say! I hope that covered everything!!

Times Editor

p.s. You'll be glad to know my office is dry now, and we're replacing the carpet with tile so there won't be any flood fears again. Yay!
