Sila5 here:

As you all know, Akbar's is getting new creations all the time. There are new fads, stores, and designers that are now "it." I interviewed some of the latest designers to give you the scoops on all there is to know, fashion-wise. Here are three great designers:

Name: Twigsy
Age: 14
Started Whyville: May 2001
Store name(s): ~*Phyzz*~ and ~*Phyzz New*~

Q: I am sure many people ask you this question, but one more time, where do you get the ideas for your creations and titles of face parts?
A: I would say everything I make has some sort of inspiration from other people. Like, just sitting at the mall (in real life), watching people go by and seeing what they are wearing gives me so many ideas.

Q: What is your favorite face part you have made?
A: LoL, I don't really have a favorite, although I do like some of my hats. But I still believe I haven't made my favorite yet. ;D

Q: Do you prefer to go along with the fashions, or do you run after crazy creations?
A: Normal fashions are so... normal. Everybody makes normal simple stuff. I like being a little different and weird, it catches people's eyes even if it's slightly odd.

Q: Who or what inspired you to make face parts for Whyville?
A: Well, as soon as I joined Whyville I was drawn to that feature in Whyville. I thought it was so cool that I could make my own stuff and wear it. So I guess I just kind of found it.

Q: About how many parts are not accepted, and do you know why Akbar does not accept these?
A: I get quite a few not accepted -- mostly shirts, because Akbar thinks they are too long.

Q: What is your procedure for creating face parts?
A: It depends which parts. But I usually start out with the basic shape, expand on the detail, and add shadows and shiny parts from where the light would normally be on a real item.

Q: Does your store have a particular style?? If so, why did you choose it?
A: Guess you could say that. I go with sort of the weird, unique styles. If I see anything new and abnormal I usually make it on Whyville. So I guess I choose it because I'm a weird person and I love weird stuff.

Q: Do you have any advice for beginner creators?
A: Yes. PRACTICE! All beginners usually are... bad! Especially me! But just practice; you'll get WAY better, trust me!

Q: When did you start making face parts?
A: As soon as I had enough clams to make one!

Name: xtw1st3d
Age: 14
Started Whyville: Feb 12, 2003
Store name(s): jukebox

Q: I am sure many people ask you this question, but one more time, where do you get the ideas for your creations and titles of face parts?
A: I've made a lot of hair recently... and I usually make them to resemble me, my friends, or celebrities. I usually just open up the design screen and see where it takes me.

Q: What is your favorite face part you have made?
A: I really like Yo Soy Rubia and Brody Armstrong. Can't decide which is the favorite =D

Q: Do you prefer to go along with the fashions, or do you run after crazy creations?
A: I'd like to go for the "crazy creations", but Akbar hasn't been open and I haven't had any real time to just devote to making parts.

Q: Who or what inspired you to make face parts for Whyville?
A: Well I'm really competitive and I get jealous easily, you could say, LoL, so when I saw all the other parts in other stores, I really wanted one of my own. That's where the business aspect of it came in -- and I've been doing graphic design since I was 9, so that part just kind of fit naturally into the whole scheme of things.

Q: About how many parts are not accepted, and do you know why Akbar does not accept these?
A: All of mine get accepted. I don't really try to push the boundaries and make "offensive" parts. When [my parts don't get accepted], it's because I made a shirt and it's too long. LoL... no matter how hard I try, I don't think I'll ever be able to make a shirt. *Frustrated face*

Q: What is your procedure for creating face parts?
A: I mostly make hair, so I take off all my face parts besides my head, lips, eyes, and nose. Then, I draw out the shape of the head, and just draw. When I want to preview it, it's much easier to see what it will actually look like without the other hair on there. =D

Q: Does your store have a particular style?? If so, why did you choose it?
A: My store doesn't really have a style... LoL. Just hair. It's pretty plain. LoL.

Q: Do you have any advice for beginner creators?
A: I would say... Make things that nobody's seen before! Use your imagination. People want to buy unique and creative things. Sure, it's easy to make a "Cha Holla" sign, but how many others are there?

Q: When did you start making face parts?
A: I started making face parts right when I got enough money to buy the workshop time... which was about a week or two after I first joined. The first thing I ever made was lips. LoL. I thought they were the greatest thing ever. I don't keep them in stock anymore, though. =D

Name: sugarz
Age: 15
Started Whyville: On sugarz in 2001 and on *SUGAR* in 1999
Store name(s): Persian Kittay, Expenzes, Vanilla Candie

Q: I am sure many people ask you this question, but one more time, where do you get the ideas for your creations and titles of face parts?
A: At first I made a HUGE mistake, I copied some other peoples' face parts to learn the technique of how to design with right shading. Sooner or later I caught a hang of it. Most of my creations are remakes of [parts by] gurttrude, one of Whyville's greatest designers who was banned and left. I have permission from her to re-create her parts. I find it very difficult to just make up a style, but if you go onto doll-maker sites, you can find many styles of hairs which you can create on Whyville. Try to create your own, new and creative style.

Q: What is your favorite face part you have made?
A: The favorite face part that I have created would be the part which I remade from my friend, which was called "perfect dreams". I remade it and called it "perfect dreamer". The profit was VERY good; about 200,000 clams and more I made from just that product, but the part which I enjoyed making most was "Cry with all your might", which is a blonde and windy hair. This was my OWN idea and was a big hit as well. It was much better to know that I made the clams off of my own money [and creation] rather than the remake of a product of another Whyvillian,

Q: Do you prefer to go along with the fashions, or do you run after crazy creations?
A: From time to time, I like to go crazy with what I make and make something Unique, although very few people buy the "Crazy creations" any longer, so I try to stay with the trend, but I like to go crazy every now and then ;)

Q: Who or what inspired you to make face parts for Whyville?
A: My inspiration for creating face parts came from gurttrude, who was banished but came back to create face parts for us. Her dedication and great work into her parts inspired me to try and be like her, and I still haven't succeeded because I've taken her ideas, but sooner or later I'll catch up! :-)

Q: About how many parts are not accepted, and do you know why Akbar does not accept these?
A: Well Akbar mostly ALWAYS accepts hair unless it's VERY messy and needs to be "cleaner". Shirts are what Akbar has declined the most of among my parts: either my necks are too long (because some Whyvillians decided to use the long necks to make bare bellies >:/ which ruins it for us designers if we forget to shorten the neck). If the bust of your shirt is too big, Akbar tends to not accept it, which makes me extremely mad, but that's how it is. Just stay in his line of standards and you'll do fine! :D

Q: What is your procedure for creating face parts?
A: At first when I began, I started with contacts and shirts, then I moved onto other levels and recently began to create hair, but I advise everyone to start with contacts and shirts, perfect those, then move onto hair, because what I've noticed is that some people rush and don't realize that most Whyvillians don't buy hair with the right amount of head space -- the head space has a lot of impact on the hair!! -- and the quality of your work and appearance. Keep that in mind. :-)

Q: Does your store have a particular style?? If so, why did you choose it?
A: I have three different stores, and the way I chose them is that vanilla candie consists of my mainly practice hairs which I started off with, then I moved onto expenzes and put my newest parts and most adored parts there. Recently I opened up another store by the name of Persian Kittay, which consists of the most-wanted hairs I have created/my favorites/and newest hairs.

Q: Do you have any advice for beginner creators?
A: Okay well, I speak for myself here, but I personally copied parts, like I practiced parts that other people had made and submitted them into Akbar's, and I give anyone out there permission to copy my parts so that they become better at designing, but don't go copying the whole batch. ;) After you get the hang of making a couple of my parts nicely, start creating your own style. :) Good luck?!

Q: When did you start making face parts?
A: I started making face parts in 2001, but I gave up. I made hair which was sold for the time that I made my parts... I sold quite a bit because of the time that Whyville was in, nothing was as advanced as it was now. LOL. I gave up making face parts then, and began again in 2003, when I started to create hair, and that's what I've been doing for quite some time. :)

Thank you for interviewing me, and just a good luck to all of the up-and-coming designers! GOOD LUCK!

So there it is. I know there are many many great designers, but in this article I managed to close in on these few. I hope you visit their stores and look at their creations, because they really do rock!

I'm out -- gotta go to Akbar's,
