Somebody pinch me, I'm dreaming -- there's so much to report about new events in Whyville, I don't know if I can fit it all in!

Let's start with the newest contests. As you should all know, the latest Senate Race began last week. We ran an early announcement last Sunday, but City Workers decided to finish off the BRAND NEW Senate Platform System, so platforms first started going up Friday night. Good luck to all the political wannabes! My question is, will Whyville soon see organized political parties???

The next contest is one for the Times. With school looming close for many of you, we figured it would be nice to lighten the mood -- so we're announcing a Jokes Contest for next two weeks of the Whyville Times! Send in your very best to times@whyville.net. We're looking for one-liners, full-on story jokes, limericks and puns. Whatever you got, send it on. I, the Editor, will publish the very best in the next two issues. To get it started, here's my favorite joke of all time:

Three guys are walking down a street. Two of them walk into a bar. The third one ducks.
Ahahaha!!!

The Adobe Photo Contests "Photograph Your Pets!" and "Pic Your Pets and Paper!" are now closed, and the three winners have been (or will soon be) announced by City Hall. Find out the top three in the welcome page, after you log in. Congratulations! Let's all hope Adobe liked your wonderful, creative submissions and decides to host another contest or do some other cool things with Whyville in the future!

And, as announced in last week's Times, Deriko has been given Whyville's first "Good Citizen" award. To get involved in the discussion about what it takes to be a good citizen, you can read that announcement, and you can check out ABbayb290's article in this week's Times.

Now, in other news... as of about a week ago, designers in the Face Factory can now delete their old face part designs. This is great for two major reasons. Designs can take up a lot of space in Whyville's servers. They also take up a lot of space in designers' stores. Being able to delete parts will help individual face part makers as well as Whyville itself! In the end, this may mean that citizens will be able to access the Face Factory more often.

On that note, I want to help Akbar clear something up -- everyone can get into the Face Factory about once a month. No one is blocked from ever entering. Yes, if you buy a lifetime Why-Pass, you have priority access, but that's because you've paid a little to help Whyville pay its bills and improve the site for everyone. Thank you! :)

If you were able to make it to last week's "Meet the Makers" event in Club Why (on August 3), you would have learned that, and a lot more, too! Check out PinkieHil and Sk8rboi92's lead article this week to find out a little more about this monthly event, where regular citizens get to hang out with City Workers.

And at the bottom of our news blotter are these items:

Archives Flipped Out! The Times archives have been flipped upside down, so that you'll be able to get to the most recent issues faster. Used to be that the very first issue was at the top of the list, with the most recent at the bottom. With more than 220 issues, that's getting to be a long list!!!

I Didn't Know There Was More! For those of you who never realized there were more articles than those shown on the front page, we've added an extra header. You may have already noticed: It says "This Week's Articles:" right above the left column of sections. Let us know if this helps!

Shift in the Weather! Yup, the season's getting warmer -- as you can see in your bus announcements, the weather is now "Hot and Sunny" in Whyville! What are you wearing? Hope you're drinking enough fluids, in Whyville and out!

And finally, the Factoid of the Week: The richest citizen in Whyville has more than 14 MILLION clams!!!

More news than you can beat with a stick,
Times Editor
