UPDATE! The Senate Debate will be Saturday at 7pm Whyville Time! Come to the Greek Theatre to watch and ask questions, or read the transcript of the debate in next week's issue.

Got Senate Candidates? You betcha! Check out this week's great double issue to meet this election's candidates, who earned more than 550 of your votes between the three of them. You'll be seeing them at the Senate Debate, to be scheduled soon.

Here are your official candidates!

Read these platforms thoroughly -- you'll be choosing the next Whyville Senator from this group! The Senate Debate will be held in a week or two. Please post your suggested questions for the debate in this article's BBS.

Don't know what's up with this whole Senate thing? Check out this article to get all the explanations you could want!

What? A double issue this week? You betcha -- not only is it common at this point in the Senate Race, it's also a regular tradition at this time of year! Is it the start of school? The end of summer? Or something else?! I'm not telling -- I'm getting too old! ;-)

And in other news....

"This one change has resulted in an enormous speedup of the site."

What is Whyville's chief programmer talking about? Why, your Y-mails, of course! I'm sure you've noticed when you reply to Y-mails sent to you, there's an extra text box underneath your reply-to box. Believe it or not, that's a huge help for our computers! The big question is... Why? Can you figure it out?

Just like your Y-mails, improvements are also being made to how you get your Y-mails from City Hall. *And* they're working to make searching through the Whyville Times a lot better. Thought you might like to know.

More important for you to know: Coming this Thursday, your current Senators (OrEoBaBy, Sonner and DivaSis) will be hosting another Senate Meeting, in the Greek Theater at 6 p.m. Whyville Time.

We at the Times have also heard about Y-mail Helpers who are getting together to hold meetings of their own -- thanks folks! You truly understand the Whyville Way!

Now, the big mystery of the month is: Where's the Why-Pox?? Don't know? You'd better check out the Whyville CDC! How many cases have appeared lately? What could be happening???

Bet you're also wondering what's up with the Times. No doubt you've noticed by now what's on your left as you read the Whyville Times -- yup, we've moved the navigation column to every article page, so you have every section at your fingertips. And on the front page, you'll also see just how many articles the paper's carrying this week. We hear some folks didn't realize there were more articles than just those on the front page!

And here's another little improvement in Whyville; you now have more space to move around in the Times chatroom. Awww yeah. :-)

Speaking of chatrooms, every Friday, a City Worker holds the Trivia Hour in the Greek Theater, where citizens can compete for clams... and now, for a little bit of fame too! This past week's top Trivia winners were: lured, leenygrl8 and holiday50! Congratulations, folks!

Another weekly event in Whyville is the Media Hour. If you've been reading MediaWiz's Media Menu in the past few weeks, you already know that the weekly Media Hour event has been moved to Tuesday nights at 8pm Whyville Time. The Wiz tells me that's not set in stone, but if you want to get in on some challenging conversations -- or just get brought down to the Greek Theater stage! -- come on by this Tuesday, when the Wiz hopes to have fewer technical problems than he did last week.

Like the jokes in this week's Times? They come from citizens who participated in our little jokes contest over the last week or two. What's the next contest? Who's your favorite Olympic athlete, and WHY? Don't say Michael Phelps just because he's on TV all the time... if you honestly like him, give a good reason (and remember that only one such article is likely to be published, so you might want to like somebody else, too! :)

And finally, a request: We'd love to hear from anyone who figured out how to get a million-clam salary out of the House of Illusions! How did you do it? (Of course our programmers know, but we think your fellow citizens would be fascinated by your story!)

Times Editor

p.s. Something's coming to Whyville... something that moves... wink, wink!
