Just last night, Senate candidates Suga246, softbll12 and Soccer678 got together with City Hall and a number of citizens for the official Senate Debate! All the candidates were well-spoken and thoughtful, and City Hall and the crowd seemed to have a million good questions for 'em.

Missed it? You'll soon be able to read the transcript in this week's Times, once we get it properly cleaned up and readable. :)

Voting should start up soon! You can read the platforms of our candidates here:

Make sure you place your vote in the brand new welcome page before Saturday, September 11!

As *everyone* has noticed, City Workers have given us a fabulous, beautiful new Welcome Page! That's the page you get after you log in, before you go to any chat rooms or whatever. At the top of the Welcome Page you'll find a Google ad, the official Whyville calendar, and links to some of the coolest games and activities in Whyville. In the middle of the page, I'm proud to say that you'll find a brief clip of one of the best articles in this week's Whyville Times! There are also links to current polls and other interesting info... and don't miss the Programming News, Trivia, and official Whyville FAQ!

FYI, most of these polls aren't exactly strictly controlled, so don't take 'em too seriously, 'k!

Speaking of the Whyville Calendar, this Tuesday is the Meet the Makers meeting in Club Why. Club members can come on over to meet City Workers, ask them questions and learn what's coming up in our town.

Here's an update on the Media Hour: The MediaWiz's weekly get-together for discussing what's in the news and other topics has been officially moved to Saturday mornings (noontime in Whyville & EST, 9am WST), which you can see in the Whyville calendar. This week, the Wiz wants to talk about video games.

And now for the biggest news in the Whyville Times! You can finally search the entire *text* of all the articles in the Times! Yes, that means that you really can use keywords to find what you need -- check it out and see what can be seen!

Additionally, those searches that give you hundreds of hits and used to get you an error message now let you go through multiple pages... yes, you can finally look up some of our most prolific authors and actually see *all* of their works! Huzzah!

Okay, let me calm down a bit... so much excitement there....

As many of you know, City Hall and her workers are looking for ways to open up Akbar's Face Mall to everyone who wants to design. To do this, they are probably going to have to eliminate those face parts that originally escaped the expiration when it was first established, last year. These "unexpirables" are keeping the database too full -- but you may be able to keep them... only if you don't want to open up Akbar's. Vote in the poll on the welcome page! Can't see it? Look for a link in the middle of the page....

Congratulations go out to last week's Trivia winners, especially hotcherri, who won a whopping 450 clams!!! Other winners included dartanian, fairykiya, and pyra.

One final note: If you have questions that you can't seem to get answered, try heading over to the Newbie Center! Our Y-mail Helpers are just busting to help you out! And to the Helpers -- please make sure you spend some time each week (or even each day) at the Center. City Workers are thinking of awarding titles and prizes to those Helpers who spend the most time and work with the most folks... so come on down!

I've been sitting in this chair all weekend... time to hit the gym!

Get healthy, mind and body,
