Want to learn more about the candidates? There's another interview in this week's Times, and the Debate transcript too!

We have some great candidates running for the position of Whyville's next Senator. I was lucky enough to interview all three senate candidates with some questions about their platforms.

As you probably know, the next elections are right around the corner. Hopefully, by now you've gotten a chance to look at the platforms, and if you missed the debate on Saturday, make sure to check out what happened in this week's Debate Transcript!

In her platform, Softbll12's ideas were to make a BBS for the Newbie Center, create Whyville Appreciation Days, have a poll to decide whether to erase or keep the plots, add another room to Club Why, bring back the Whyology Survey, get rid of Why-Pox, and change the time slots for disco parties from one hour to 30 minutes.

Senceless: You said that Whyville once had a 'Whyology Survey' and you wish to bring it back. What exactly was that?
Softbll12: The Whyology Survey was a survey that every Whyvillian took that asked about what age they are, how many accounts they have, how you came across Whyville, and many other questions.

Senceless: You made several good points about whether or not to delete or plots. Which side are you in favor of?
Softball12: Well, I am in favor of deleting plots. I do own a plot, but I don't want to spend lots of clams for a house I'd rarely use. However, some people find more use in a plot than I do. That's why I thought that Whyville should have a poll. :)

Senceless: Out of all your ideas for Whyville, which do you hold in top priority?
Softball12: Wow, this is a toughy. I think that we should correct some things in Whyville before adding more things for fun. I'm going to say that getting rid of WhyPox, changing party slots from one hour to 30 minutes long, and making the poll on whether to keep or delete plots are my first priority. I don't think I could narrow it down more than that.

Soccer678 stated in her platform that she wants to stop booting, end expiring face parts, be able to wear more than 20 face parts at a time, and speed up the time it takes for your face to update.

Senceless: Don't get me wrong, I would love to keep my face parts, but are you aware that face parts expiring encourage people to buy why passes? Without people who want to buy WhyPasses we wouldn't have a Whyville, right?
Soccer678: Yes, I'm aware that I can't stop face parts from expiring because of the server or something and I know that more people will buy WhyPasses if face parts expire. I think that's some of the salary for the City Hall people in real life.

Senceless: Both Softbll12 and Suga246 said they would like to make Whyville easier for newbies. Do you have any ideas on that topic?
Soccer678: Yes, of course I have ideas on making Whyville easier for newbies. I think it's unfair that newbies start out with nothing! That's why they quit! I think that newbies should at least start out with a salary of 5 clams or 10... also, they should at least start out with some clams to buy some face parts and things.

Senceless: Out of all your ideas for Whyville, which do you hold in top priority?
Soccer678: I think that my biggest idea is to help out newbies because newbies are the ones who need the most help! And they're the ones that make Whyville bigger and better.

Suga246 declared that she would like a Whyville bank, Whyville food, a library, an advice column, to be able to purchase additional days before your face parts expire, allow newbies to buy 20 non-expireable (sometimes we have to make up words in Whyville!) face parts, to be able to remember more then one dance at a time, to keep the face factory open to anyone, have a step of punishment before banishing, to put unused accounts in storage, and to make the planets more educational.

Senceless: You mentioned that you would like the first 20 parts newbies purchase to not expire. Do you think that maybe some Whyvillians might take advantage of this by creating numerous accounts?
Suga246: Yeah, sadly I do. After submitting my platform and reading my platform again I thought about that, LOL.

Senceless: You also state that you would like to put all unused accounts into storage, why do you believe this is necessary?
Suga246: I just thought it might give more room for more new people to join Whyville without taking up so much space

Senceless: Out of all your ideas for Whyville, which do you hold in top priority?
Suga246: Hmm, this is a tough question, LOL. I think the advice column and newbie packs are my top priorities, because a lot of people have ymailed me saying those are their two fave ideas!

Vote wisely and good luck to all the candidates!
