We all wanted to be her. She was by far the prettiest, nicest, coolest girl on Whyville. There is no Denying this. Britmaria was THE queen of Whyville.

BabyPowdr here, telling you about the girl that we wanted to be.

Britmaria had her cherished place in the Whyville Square. It's long gone now -- it used to be right next to the CAPSI house. Wait, you want to know what's a CAPSI house? It was the place for educators and teachers to go on Whyville. (Editor's Note: CAPSI stands for CAltech's Pre-college Science Initiative, a group that was involved in the early years of Whyville.) It's now the building that hosts Club Y and the Newbie Centre. The other spot that Britmaria preferred was on other side of the Square, beside Dr Leila's, but usually Charity held down that spot.

Britmaria was blonde with purple eyes, a Charity-flowered top, pointy nose, and glossy lips. She was Hip.

Believe it or not, she was also nice. Extremely nice. In the beginning. As a newb she helped me out, and was kind of my friend. We talked. But then again, in those days, anyone would talk to you.

Britmaria helped out all the new people of 2000, and part of 2001. Then the tidal wave of newbs hit and they didn't want advice or help with games... they wanted clams and face parts and they thought she was ugly and fat and stupid.

Britmaria could be vicious, and when she was, mostly everyone around her was, too. She was king... poop... of the Square (which, by the way, was where everybody automatically came when they first logged into Whyville). I think I need to reword that king poop part, but I'll come back. Fact is, you didn't want to cross Britmaria.

She is the person I most wanted to be like. I am not the only one. Amanda and I both have accounts on other sites and emails with "Britmaria" or "Brittni Marian" or "Jerrica" in them. I'm sure from that time period there are many others. I remember emailing City-Management once, and they thought I was Britmaria... it was a laugh.

I miss Britmaria, but like many of the older people, she has moved on in her life, and parted ways with Whyville.

I miss the days of when you walked into a chartroom and everyone said "Hello *username*" and immediately began a conversation. There was no "in" group, just the one girl in the Square. She was the most well-known, because she was always on, always in the same spot. Other people were well known and "popular," but not like her.

I don't think Whyville will ever see a day where there is someone so known and so notorious as that ever again, which is a shame. We have the Platz people fighting with the Sunroof, and everyone against what goes on in Sector Y, and besides the rivals from the different sides of town, there are just way way WAY too many people for someone to be known by everyone like that.

Do you remember the good old days of less than 1,000 people? I remember a time when I knew practically every face I met. *tear* Times sure have changed, but we'll never forget what it once was.

So, that's a little bit about Britmaria. The only words she has left us in Whyville is a poem published in the Times; it's called "Many Phases, Each Unique... My Purple Moods", and I think it helps explain her side of the phenomenon that she was. :)

Editor's Note: Now that was a flashback... it's funny, I remember when Britmaria was a little bit controversial in Whyville... times, they do indeed change.
