I and many others see this as an act of racism. Why, you ask? Well, the U.S. government hasn't been very nice to Native Americans in the past. They force them to live near military weapon testing grounds, they don't treat them with respect at all, and they make them move a lot, putting huge amounts of stress on tribes.

Why are we even making that much nuclear waste anyways??? We are human, not invincible machines! Who would want to wear white suits for the rest of their lives??

Now, tribes can take a big wad of cash that the U.S. is waving in their faces, but there's a conflict: some want the money and others want the mountain to remain undisturbed. This has caused more stress and has caused some tribes to split. To add to the pressure, there was an estimate of 109,000 truckloads being sent in the first month before even finalizing the deal.

Also of concern is the overall safety of shipping this stuff. Someone estimated 60 accidents occurring the first month. This number is unreasonable. VERY. I don't think there should be any accidents EVER! That means I don't want this to happen.

I want to grow up feeling safe from nuclear chemicals that kill, for my life and the family after me. I don't want them trucking nuclear waste across the country. I don't care if we need a spot to put it! Like I said before, why do we even make this stuff?? The world should be peaceful because that's how God intended! Why must we play jeopardy with people's lives with nit-wits at the podium??

In 2005, the government is to release this to the "public." They want to wait until the last minute because it will get ugly. Ugly is not the word I would use to describe it (but I can't say it in Whyville!!).

The September 11th attacks brought fear of more terrorism on America. This seems like a perfect opportunity to kill off America for those sickest who love killing others for fun, doesn't it?

Editor's Note: Nuclear waste cannot be used in any weapons I know of. In order to create the "dirty bomb" that many people are afraid of, I believe you have to have active nuclear material -- waste is the active stuff all drained out. Making a dirty bomb without active material is almost like making a banana split when you've only got a banana peel... can't create a banana out of that! And to make nuclear waste active again, you need pretty good technology in nuclear power first. This is not backyard science lab stuff! ;-)

The new method of packaging the waste is called 'dry cast packaging.' This is basically putting the waste in steel boxes and burying them into the ground. It is UNproven and UNsafe.

The Department of Energy ADMITS (admits, what a word!) that the containers WILL (ahh, there's another strong word) leak. ADMITS THEY WILL LEAK. What does that mean to you?? Nuclear material can last up to 24,000 years. I'm guessing they will leak by then, don't you??

Editor's Note: Here's the thing: leaking a little and leaking too much are two very different things. Your computer monitor is "leaking" radiation, technically, and so is your cell phone, but more than likely neither is so much that it'll affect your health any time soon. Same with these boxes -- how much is too much?

Oh and here is something else completely harsh that the U.S. government has done (even though they have done their fair share). They told the Native Americans that they were at the reservation to discover cultural values, while their REAL plan was to tell them they were turning the mountain into a nuclear waste dump. Can you get any lower???

Native Americans can do something, though. Something that could halt the storage to protect their culture, religion and spiritual beliefs. They can also stop the trucks and inspect them. One spill can kill off a whole reservation.

You know that some people believe there is a world out there that does the complete opposite of you? Everything's the same but the choices are different. For example, say you have chocolate milk at breakfast. In this alternate world, your "clone," as some call it, would have plain milk. Imagine living in that world. Some things like freedom wouldn't exist, but imagine how peaceful it would be! There wouldn't be such a thing as military (something I find *ahem* "ugly") in the world. If we lived in that world, there wouldn't be this issue.

I really hope the government's plan for Yucca Mountain isn't enforced.
