My Face Factory can be awfully tough to get into, but do you know what's worse than the wait? Getting a Y-mail telling you that the part you just slaved over for an hour or three has been rejected! Avoid the heartbreak and read my series of articles about what my Y-mail rejections are -- and therefore, what you can do to avoid getting them.

This week's topic is, well, Everything Else!

Don't forget to read Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3!

There are some parts that can only be made and/or owned by Whyville officials. Citizens are not allowed to create items that the Official Whyville Artists create. This includes masking tape; official awards, medals and crowns; City Worker beanies; and badges with City Worker insignia.

In general, try to keep your designs so I can understand what they are. I only tell you it's "too messy" when I have a hard time understanding what the item is, not to judge how good it looks. The same goes with the descriptions of your face parts... sometimes I can't tell what they're supposed to be, so I need your description to make that clear.

We don't allow individual letters or numbers because some folks will use them to spell out their real names (which can lead to giving out too much info), inappropriate words (obviously), and/or numbers that some folks find offensive (like 69 and 666).

You can make whole words (and logos), but they can't be too big -- try to design them to fit on a T-shirt, for example. The same goes with parts in general. Make sure they balance with the size of everything else in Whyville. Don't make heads super-sized or bodies super-tiny, etc. Small parts won't show up well in the sizes that Whyville normally shows faces.

Now, because of legal reasons, Whyville doesn't allow copyrighted material other than what is owned by Numedeon, Inc. What does that mean? You can design face parts that look like Whyville artwork -- but we can't allow characters like Elmo or Mickie Mouse. Yes, a long time ago we let a few parts like this in, but no more, and we are working on eliminating these older parts. I know you love your Elmos and such, but it's a matter of legal rights. Sesame Street has the right to decide how Elmo is used, and we don't... but you can make up your own characters however you like! :)

Please note that trademarks, like the Nike swoosh or the L.A. Lakers logo, are acceptable.

Something that isn't acceptable in Whyville are the lyrics that some bands sing. Instead of allowing a select few groups and excluding others, we don't allow outfits that support any bands.

Unless you're running for Senate, please don't send in any signs. And although we know politicians like to kiss babies, we ask that you not send in any babies -- the Factory is just not a good place for small children!

And finally, because the drawing surface in the face factory is light gray, some of you draw in your own white background before drawing your face parts. Don't do this -- the white doesn't go away!

As always, never forget to click the "Submit" button after drawing your face part. If you forget to, you'll get a note from me stating that your face parts were not received by my workshop.

Oh, and of course, please remember the very first rule listed in the Face Factory: No refunds for workshop time! If you don't complete your part or Akbar doesn't approve your part design, Akbar will NOT refund the clams you spent. This is one of the risks of submitting parts to Akbar's.
