Another Whyville year has gone and I'm here to tell you about it: 2004 was a year of growth for Whyville. Here I am to tell you about them:

In January, the arrival of the second Senate election came, following the 1st Senate Race in the fall of 2003. At the start of 2004 the Mall was being worked on, by February we had a food court and a fountain!

In February, Mimi came back, and everyone can-can'ed to celebrate! Whyville also saw the 200th issue of the Whyville Times. We all looked forward to the newest Whyville Live Meeting, to be held in March. OrEoBaBy became Whyville's 2nd Senator.

Everyone get out your party poppers for our yearly celebration in March! Whyville turned five years old. The Whyville Live meeting was held in Virginia on March 3rd. We saw the arrival of a new game, "The Ion Engine", and the start of the 3rd Senate Race as well as a photography contest run by Adobe, the makers of Photoshop. Coach Jay Stallings came to Whyville for a Whyville Talk Show. But, despite all the great happenings, March was not without its tragedies: our beloved Ad Agency pilot crashed his plane, and though he's recovered, the plane has been out of commission since then. :-(

In April, we saw (or first heard the rumor of) the first animated part, a sparkling veteran medal for Whyvillians who had been in Whyville more than four years. Easter came and so did an Easter Egg hunt for Whyvillians. Meanwhile, Sonner won the spot of 3rd Senator, although he then lost a checkers match against City Worker neutral. :-)

Not much happened in May 2004, except more Adobe Photoshop Contests. Oddly enough, though it wasn't the first one, many citizens complained about this month's double issue in the Times. Go figure.

In June we heard about the ghost facchione, and discovered a teleport to the planets (and the newspaper). The Y-Helpers and all new citizens leapt for joy when they found the new Newbie Center.

July brought us DivaSis joining Sonner and OrEoBaBy as Whyville Senator.

In August, we saw the first Good Citizen of the month, Deriko! We also got the fifth senate election with a new voting system. The dreaded WhyPox returned to Whyville, and the Times Editor hinted at some new animated face parts.

A brand-spanking new welcome page arrived in September, thanks to our friend, CW neutral. Softbll12 became Whyville's 5th Senator also won the most recent Good Citizen of The Month. Time to vote for Whyville's 6th Senator!

In October, we were all spooked by the Halloween party, and a costume contest (won by Rebok). There was nothing spooky, though, about hotboi764 winning the Senate election.

In November, the WHOLE Whyville server was moved from the east coast to Los Angeles, changing our official Whyville time by a few hours. Those animated medals were FINALLY given out.

And here's the best month of all -- get out your party hats, your party poppers, and your finger food buffet, because WHYVILLE HAS ONE MILLION MEMBERS!!! This was celebrated by an enormous one-million-clam clam storm, with hints provided by former Whyville Senator, Giggler01.

In December, we saw the arrival of animated face parts, a new Whyology Survey and (despite what the welcome page says) the senate race for Whyville's 7th Senator. The Getty Museum opened to all of Whyville to a lot of applause. New Year came with an expanded Sportplatz, balloons everywhere and DOUBLE clams in Trivia Hour. (You wouldn't of thought it was winter, since CW neutral was dressed as an Egyptian pharaoh!)

It was an EXCELLENT year! New issues in the times, new additions to Whyville, new clubs and new friends.

Here's to a great 2005,
Cobd
