The news of the week is pretty much all in this paper! Great job, Whyville reporters -- that's what I like to see!

Check out the report from City Worker Bigfoot, Let's Get Together to learn about the newest additions to the Welcome Calendar! And speaking of the calendar, I hope you all take the time to visit one of the meet-ups with the Whyology scientists. They should be interesting.

Also at the Greek Theater this week: PUNKnPIE's official inauguration, at 2 p.m.! City Hall promises to be there -- her car's repaired and she'll be staying indoors all day just in case. ;-)

I hope all the Americans out there are planning to do something to acknowledge Martin Luther King Day this Monday. Dr. King was an amazing man who led an incredible people as they struggled to assert their civil rights. Honoring him is worth much more than a day.

You may notice we don't have any articles in this week's issue about the illustrious Reverend. We've received many, and I'm holding them and other excellent articles on African-American history for publication in February. You can look forward to a big double issue covering that and Valentine's Day come early February!

Speaking of "big" things in the Times, you may have noticed that the Adobe ad got a little too big during this past week. Not exactly sure how it happened, City Worker mark repaired it the instant I reported the oddity to him. All is well now, and back in proportion. Whoo hoo!

City Worker scyllaCat helped a Whyology Q&A session with scientist katyakit on the 14th. He reported that about a quarter of his audience had already signed up for the surveys, and more than half of the remaining folks were planning to sign up. Remember, your deadline is January 21, so get your parents on board ASAP! (For the folks who have signed up already, the surveys will be opened as soon as everybody gets signed up completely. Thanks for your continuing patience and support for not only Whyville, but the pursuit of knowledge!)

In minor news, the CWs have redesigned the way that poll results are drawn -- you might not even notice, but it's there.

And finally, the usual Trivia Hour report, for January 7. Four citizens took home clams this week, with ephippo coming around to rake in yet another amazing 800 clams! You may recall that ephippo won 800 clams in the final Triva Hour of 2004 by answering the last question of 2004, "What number does the Roman number MMIV stand for?" This time around, ephippo was the last contestant to play in the hour and had an incredible run, answering all of the questions City Worker neutral posed.

Lured was the first citizen to win a prize in 2005's first Trivia Hour, taking home 25 clams. Sher10902 and ZoDiAc101 both got 50 clams as well. Congratulations to them -- here's to the first full year of Trivia Hour, and continued success to all of you!
