Morning Time
Whether you want to acknowledge them or not, your family DOES exist. Personally, I always give my parents and brother a small bit of candy with homemade cards on Valentine's Day. Do an exchange with your family, but be sure to keep your things small, so you can afford bigger things for *cough* more important *cough* people.

At School
It's always a good idea to get on your teachers' good side, so bring all of them a teddy bear or even just a card.

A classic thing to give your not-so-close-but-good-friends would be... what else? Those little candy hearts with the sayings on them!

For your best buds and oh-so-close amigos, buy reasonably small heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, and put a note on the outside saying, "Finish these fast for a great surprise!"

Open the boxes before giving them and carefully (WITHOUT eating them) take out all the chocolates. (If your friends question why the boxes are opened, make sure to tell them it was you and if they finish the chocolates, they'll find out why.)

With a red permanent marker, write an invitation to spend a night out dancing. (Schools usually have Valentine's dances; if yours does not, just hang out with them somewhere where there are other people.) Get your parents' permission and schedule a slumber party (or, if it's a school night, just chilling) at your house for some sappy romance movies. Place all the chocolates back in the box, and hand them out at school.

Even if you're dateless, that doesn't mean you don't have a crush! (Though you might not, and that's okay too. :-) Buy a single red rose or a cute bear and, so it won't be obvious it was you, write in cursive writing a little poem, and sign it your secret admirer. If you're daring, sign it with your name!

Now you have a couple choices. If you know his/her locker combination (or can slip it in somehow), it's really romantic to put it in there before he opens it. But, most likely, you don't know the combo. If you're OK with your crush maybe finding out it was you, give it to his/her best friend and tell that person to deliver the gift. Make sure to tell the friend that you don't want your crush to find out; that way, if he/she DOES spill the beans, you'll have a reason and a right to be shy!

If you want NO chance of your crush finding out it was you, put the gift somewhere you absolutely know he/she (and no one else) will find it, and make sure nobody's looking when you go to put it there.

What to do with the people you invited
So, remember that box-of-chocolates invitation? Well, what do you do when they come?

Buy a cute outfit, one suitable for the weather, but still stylish. Red and hearts would make you look "festive" if you will, and interesting clothing is always a good conversation starter. Buy some sappy "chick flicks" and something to satisfy the sweet tooth, and have them ready for later that night. Once everybody's arrived, head out to the mall or a dance. (Here's a hint: Even if you have a crush, it's okay to dance with other people.) While you're out, maybe you can take a chance and tell your cutie that you're his secret admirer.

After dancing, head back to your house and pull out those movies. Spend hours stuffing your faces (hey, it really IS fun, but don't go overboard) and watching the movies... or, if you have a talkative crowd, spend the hours not-really watching them.

Whatever you do, you DON'T need a date to have a good Valentine's Day.
