Here are dictionary definitions of the two things.

Anagram - A word or phrase formed by reordering the letters of another word or phrase, such as Bigfoot --> Boot Fig, or Clint Eastwood --> Old West Action.

Acronym - A word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as BLOBY for Bearded Ladies Organization for a Better Yville. Acronyms are also formed by combining initial letters or parts of a series of words, such as the word radar, which comes from RAdio Detecting And Ranging.

I was very confused about the difference! I hope I have eliminated any uncertainty among the readers of the Times that I myself may have created.
