This past week, Whyvillians selected our community's latest senator. The winner held on to a strong lead from the beginning of the voting, finally pulling away with more than 30% of your votes. Whyville's new Senator is... sk87!

Voting was hosted on the Welcome Page for one week.

The final tally is:

  • Sk87 - 32 %
  • Rhinoryan - 27 %
  • Ninja04 - 22 %
  • Moocow007 - 17 %

In her platform, sk87 emphasized a need for a petition filter that would eliminate the wasteful, useless petitions like "GIVE US A MILLION CLAMS EVERY DAY!!!" She'd like to see a real-life City Worker hired to take care of this, but hopefully she and the other Senators will work with City Hall to figure out a more practical solution.

Sk87 also joined the past many Senators in urging City Hall to create a bank where Whyvillians could learn about interest and savings accounts, among other things. With a sponsor, this dream could indeed come true.

Working on her second year of being a Whyvillian, sk87 joined our town on August 10, 2003. She earns a solid 100 clams a day, and is a member of Club Why. She's participated in the Whyology surveys, and can often be seen wearing a bronze Whyville medal.

Puppy85 rents space in a house at Ave C & 4th St in New Town 4 for sk87 to reside in. Her past writings in the Whyville Times started with the fundamental and clear Ways to Prevent Hacking, followed by a pair of poetic paeans, one to Whyville and the second to Goodbye to Summer.

Congratulations to sk87, moocow007, Rhinoryan and Ninja04! We had four challenging candidates who each ran strong platforms, with sk87 able to maintain the strongest level of support throughout the race. Whyvillians chose all four of you as the cream of the crop -- we hope you enjoyed running!

The official Inauguration will be held sometime in the next week. Sk87 will take the oath of office in the Greek Theater and may deliver an inauguration address. If you come, you may also see Senator PUNKnPIE, who is ending her six-month term as Senator.

The next Senate race will probably begin later this month. Think about your platforms, and join us at the Senate Meetings when you can!

To update you on Whyville's political leaders, here's the list:

Current Senators = PUNKnPIE, Rebok and sk87
Former Senators = Giggler01, OrEoBaBy, Sonner, DivaSis, softbll12, hotboi764

The next Senator to step down from office will be Senator PUNKnPIE.
