Have you ever seen this?

"Hey, Do ya wanna go out with me?"
"I just met you. . ."
"So?"
"I don???t know who you are."
"Fine!"

It's called Online Dating. To me, it's not only stupid, but dangerous. I know some of you may be thinking that it is harmless, but can it be quite the opposite.

For example, you never know who the other person may be. The other person could say he is an 11 year-old boy who enjoys the same activities as you, OR he could really be a 40 year-old male sex offender. Now, I'm not saying this is always the case, but it happens.

Whyville is a site based for all ages, and online dating is just not appropriate. It usually leads to giving out personal information, which is not allowed in Whyville for your own protection. A lot could happen if someone got a hold of your personnal information. It's unsafe and risky. On that note, if you do choose to give out personal information, make sure it's not too specific. Don't say anything that you could be tracked down by, like your phone number, or what street you live on.

Another thing online dating can lead to is password stealing, as seen in the article, "The Perfect Krime." Scam artists sometimes pretend to be you girlfriend or boyfriend and ask you for your password, and that you would give it to him/her if you loved him/her. Don't fall for this. NEVER give out your password to anyone.

Well that's just my opinion on online dating. I'm sure a lot of you could debate this issue on whether it should be allowed or not, go ahead! That's the Whyville Way!

Just keep safe and your personal information to yourself :)
