Whyvillians. . .here is a guide to the remaining days of this summer! Do you know the "Do's and Don'ts" of staying in the sun, and playing in the yard with your doggie? When going on a hike? Well, tighten your seatbelt, and enjoy these helpful tips.

When going to the beach on one of those beautiful, hot, relaxing days, there are many things to remember to bring and to keep you safe. If you are there to get a new tan, always bring Suntan Lotion with an SPF of thirty. Always carry an umbrella to keep those UV rays out of your way. To keep away from the ultra hot rays of the sun, go in the morning between ten o'clock am, and twelve o'clock pm. If you are an evening person, go after six o'clock. When packing food, bring food that has plenty of liquid in it. Bring fruits like sliced watermelon, and drinks like bottled water.

If out in the yard, there are plenty precautions to take. For hot, yucky, humid days, wear sunglasses and a hat with a long bill on it to keep the sun out of your eyes. Put Suntan Lotion on before going out, especially when swimming. Once again, use some with SPF thirty. Wear light, loose shirts, and wear shorts that are comfortable to you. Use plenty of insect repellent for those nasty mosquitos. They are really bad this year. No matter what you are doing, if you are gardening, lawn mowing, or playing with friends, ALWAYS have water on hand. In this heat, you can really become dehydrated. Oh, if lawn mowing, have a bag of trail mix with chocolate pieces on hand to give you energy. This really helps, believe me.

For those who are exercising, this concerns you. If you are jogging, try to do it in the early morning, between seven and nine-thirty am. This is the coolest. As said above, always carry water with you. If you jog in the afternoon, you could pass out, especially if any of you live in the states that have very hot afternoons in the summer. The right clothes to wear are light and loose. Try not to wear tight workout pants. If you do, make sure they do not contain any woolly material. Wear what you feel comfortable in. You decide. The last thing to remember is to not overwork yourself. If you feel tired, rest for an hour or so.

I hope that these little tips helped you in your quest for the safest summer.

Have fun!!

Editor's Note: Thanks for the safety tips. I used to live in Virginia, so I completely understand the humidity and those pesky mosquitoes. SPF 30 is a must, I am a loyal Banana Boat fan!
