Two weeks ago we found out that there was a new Editor in town. We know already that s/he is a student at UCLA (ring any bells? Whyology!!) who's studying Film and Television and also has a background in Mass Communications. S/he's excited to step into this role, don't worry Times Editor, the normal feeling of sheer terror will set in soon. Well, s/he's been here two weeks and I think it's about time we found out who they are. . .So, without further adieu I present to you. . .the "Editor in Chief of the Times"

Cobd: Hi, and thanks for letting me have this interview :-)
New Times Editor: Thank you for the interest. It is my pleasure to share more about myself with you.
Cobd: So, first, what do you think of Whyville and the Times so far?
New Times Editor: I think that Whyville is an incredible community. I never had anything like this growing up. We had shows like "Bill Nye: The Science Guy" (a great one I might add). But, nothing was as intriguing and complex as Whyville. Where else can you go to learn, meet fellow young people, and make your own face all at the same time! My favorite part of Whyville is of course, the Times. I thoroughly enjoy reading all of the submissions and putting together the paper each week. It is more than a job; it is a chance for me to learn more about the Communications field before I graduate from college. Who knows, this could be something I end up doing for my career!
Cobd: I'm sure you and the old Times Editor had extremely different opinions about articles, what do you like/not like to see in an article?
New Times Editor: Actually, we have very similar tastes in articles. In fact, the fist edition I published was actually put together in conjuction the old Times Editor. He trained me, so I highly regard his opinion. I try to vary the articles in each edition, having at least one for each category. The first type of article I look for are science articles. Whyville's main purpose is to educate in the field of science, so I like to honor that goal. I also look for articles with unique and interesting topics. The majority of articles I receive are editorials. I enjoy reading them, and try to publish as many as I can, but I prefer articles that are objective and well-researched.
Cobd: Do you have any plans for the Times?
New Times Editor: I actually have a lot of really great ideas for the Times! Look forward to them in the next few weeks. The ideas are still being flushed out, so I will keep them secret for now.
Cobd: Do you think you'll be able to fill the boots of the previous Times Editor? (after 6 years of hard work :D)
New Times Editor: I do not think that anyone could fill the shoes of the last Times Editor. Rather, I would like to wear my own. The last Editor was with Whyville for six years. That is a very long time. He had the opportunity to grow with each of you and became very close. I just came into this world a very short time ago, and am just becoming familiar with Whyville, and everything that it has to offer. I am hoping that I can be an Editor who stays true to who I am, without pretending to be the last Editor, and that the Whyville community will embrace me as I have embraced it.
Cobd: Any other comments?
New Times Editor: This was a very good interview, and made me think really hard about what I wanted to say. I know that there are members out there who do not like me. But remember, I do work very hard, and everything I do is in an effort to make the Times better. This has been a huge learning process for me, and I am very honored to be able to share it with all of you. Let's work together to continue improving the Times! Please keep writing and submitting your articles. You each have incredible talent, and I am glad that you choose to share it with Whyville. Thanks again, and you all have been incredibly wonderful so far.

Before we go, what I'd like to say is this. The old Times Editor, CW Bigfoot was great, absolutely excellent, but you have to be aware that he worked on the Whyville Times for over six years. He saw the Times grow up, he knew every twist and turn, every Times Writer, what their styles were, and maybe even the e-mails by-heart of some of them. The new Times Editor has been here a few weeks, and we are expecting him to immediately live up to someone who just graduated with an online journalism degree. Let the new Times Editor feel welcome and it will be a happier Times for all of us.

This is Cobd. . .
