Hello everybody I am 10171992 and I want to tell you about the things we get from the Greek culture.

One day I was wondering where we got our letters from (I don't know why I was thinking that, but I think weird things). Then, all of a sudden, one day I was in Social Studies and we were learning about Greece! My teacher, Mrs. Nicholson (a great teacher) was teaching us about the Greek alphabet; what do you know, we got part of our alphabet from them.

Have you ever wondered where we got the name "alphabet" from? Well Alpha is the first letter in their alphabet, so alpha became A, and beta, the second letter became B.

Below is what they say for their letters in the correct order. . .

alpha
beta
gamma
delta
epsilon
zeta
eta
theta
iota
kappa
lambda
mu
nu
xi
omicron
pi
rho
sigma
tau
upsilon
phi
chi
psi
omega

Another thing we get from the Greeks is the Olympics! They are held every four years and are started with foot races in Olympia.

We also get some of our words from the Greeks such as geometry, chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics and arithmetics. The Greeks also gave us democracy, architecture, philosophy, myths, plays, sculpture, pottery, art, science, mathematics, and medicine.
