Portal: Part 3

"Okay, someone pinch me, now I know I'm dreaming," I said, rudely staring at the beautiful animal I saw in front of me. "Humans, so emotionally unstable. How they've come to rule this side of the portal is beyond me. Why not pick a species that is actually intelligent," Twilight said rudely. "Wait a second there! This side of the portal?! What the heck are you talking about?" I said in surprise.

"Oh my gosh! You don't know about the portal! Ha ha ha! I knew you humans were slow but missing the biggest magical thing on either side of the portal is purely idiotic!" said Twilight, laughing uncontrollably. "Hey! I resent that!" I snapped, "It's not like magic really exists. This is just a really weird dream, after all."

"How many times do I have to tell you! This isn't a dream!" the unicorn said impatiently. "Then how do you explain a unicorn? There's no unicorns in Saskatchewan!" I said sensibly. The unicorn walked over to the tall grass at the side of the ditch and started to go through it, like she was looking for something. I walked over; my curiousity was getting to me.

"What are you looking for?" I said, being polite for the first time since the crash. "My bag. It fell off when I crashed," Twilight said, shocked at the fact I was actually being polite to her. "Oh, and why do you need it so bad?" I said quickly, as I was slowly being driven insane by my curiousity. "It has my portal key. It belongs to the Startalker, but he gave it to me to go get help," she said impatiently. "The Startalker? Who the heck is the Startalker?" I rattled off curiously. "Oh how I wish you weren't so ignorant," said Twilight with a sigh, "The Startalker is the leader of the lunar heard of Chalindria, the land on the other side of the portal. He sent me over to get help but humans are so dense they can't possibly be any help whatsoever!"

"Maybe I could help? I'm not as dumb, am I?" I said with a touch of hurt in my voice. "Well if I don't bring anyone back, the Startalker will be very angry so you had better come," she said, caving in. "Okay, let's find that bag of yours then," I said cheerfully.

We rustled around in the grass for a couple of minutes, then I stumbled across a worn bag. It was brown and appeared to be made of some sort of crude leather. "We may be dumb, but at least we have fashion sense," I said in a joking voice, holding up the bag. "Thank you." She stuck her horn in the bag and pulled out a golden glowing key. Just looking at that key made my heart soar, and I was instantly amazed by the magic radiating from it.

"Okay. Come sit on my back and hold on tight. Don't let go until I say or you may be swept off to other lands," she said firmly. I eagerly got on her back and wrapped my arms around her graceful neck.

"Now don't interrupt," she snapped, "By the name of the Startalkers, great and glorious. By the wings of the Fairy Queen. By the blood of Chalindria and of the Earth, in the name of us all open the door." A great gust of wind came up and swirled around us like a funnel cloud. I gasped in fear as a glowing circle appeared in front of us. It was stiff like a solid but I could tell from the shifting material it was made of something that was soft.

"Hold on tight!" yelled Twilight against the wind. Then with a deep breath we ran into that glowing pool of stuff.
