The other day I came accross an interesting article. It was about Hurricane Katrina and other hurricanes that could become strong. I found the original article here: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/science/09/01/katrina.warming.ap/index.html.

Global warming is the cause for many threats. But recently, another threat is thought to be caused by global warming. Warm water is the fuel for all hurricanes. Well, with global warming heating up the Earth and possibly melting the ice caps, the water has risen in temperature during the past few decades. With more fuel for the hurricanes, the stronger they get. This means that the hurricanes can become more powerful, and last last longer. The intensity of hurrianes has risen about 50%. Global temperatures have also been rising.

Katrina was the worst hurricane to ever hit the Gulf Coast. If the water continues to get warmer, we may have to expect even worse hurricanes. But, this is only a theory. It could be a huge coincidence or not. The past 10 years have hosted the most active hurricane seasons that have been recorded.

Sorry the article was short, but I thought it was interesting.
