comes on everyday
channel three
five o'clock
and you see a little bit of the beginning
before your mama calls you for dinner
and a little bit of the end
after you clear the table
so you don't know the whole story
but you know enough
to know oprah
in some way
gonna help that person
sitting next to her
and you smile
but then you see her
big diamond earrings
and touch your own ears
that ain't even pierced
and you can't help but wonder
how long just one of them
could feed the homeless
and you wonder, too
how many others
oprah has at home
and you ain't smiling no more.
