Hello, Whyvillians! Today, I thought of the perfect nominee for Whyvillian in the Spotlight, and so I'm very excited. This person isn't just a nice citizen who helps people all the time, she isn't just a fun person to be around, in fact, that isn't the reason I am nominating her, unlike many other people . . . this person (drumroll, please!) is . . . myself!

This is a very bold move I'm making, and I hope that people will realize that I'm trying to make a point by nominating myself, instead of thinking that I am just very conceited and arrogant. I want to show that there is more to the W.I.T.S. than just great people. When it was first introduced to Whyville, it said that it's for any kind of person, from good to horrible. Just about each of the next nominees were nominated for the same reason; they're nice and kind and helpful, ect. I think I have read the same article over and over each week, rephrased and a different username. Out of spite, I have decided to give Whyville a break, and nominate someone different. That's where I come in. :-)

My real name is Maya. I highly dislike having to be nice to someone just because I ought to be nice. I have very low patience with some people, and I hate repeating myself. I hope that explains why I've exploded in some BBS threads. I strongly express how I feel about things, an attitude which I believe was influenced very much by my mom, who has gone so far as to be arrested (twice!) when she was protesting the Iraq War and torture. I enjoy going to peace vigils, war protests, and anti-torture vigils. I believe I am one of the biggest Democrats that you will ever meet, despite the fact that most people my age are completely oblivious to what's going on in the world, I am very active in politics. I am only 13 years old, but I hate when people take my age before my voice and assume that I'm like most of my peers: ignorant.

At school, I've been realizing who I can trust and who fits my opinions so that I won't have to argue with anyone. I've been noticing that, quite frankly, I don't like my "friends," because they're oblivious to significant world events, which I just can't tolerate, or they're obsessed with violence, or they're just plain dumb. So, at the present time, I think I only have two real friends. It makes me seem quite unpopular, don't you think? But I'm not, really. Almost everyone at my school knows who I am, and they somewhat respect me. But that may be because they're scared of me. Oh, who knows?

I am also very artistic. I love to play piano, as I've been playing for about six years. I love to draw, also. At school I sit in the back of the room drawing for about an hour while the teacher drones on. My reclusive attitude also might contribute to my reputation, unfortunately. However, I can be very loud mouthed when I'm offended.

I don't think that I'm mean, I just think that I'm trite, and I'm not about to waste my time dressing up my words with "positive approaches" and nicer terms. I'm just not like that.

With love,
Athena92
